Breaking the communication barriers.

Tagged:

Communication is everywhere. It's a part of our daily life, it's practiclaly impossible to avoid. So how come so often we find ourselves unable to break the barriers of communication?

It comes to us with our friends. We quarrel and the tension arises. As teens, we find ourselves not able to say exactly what we want. We try to make ourselves seem more mature, and end up caught in between the lives of a child and an adult.

It comes to us with our boyfriends. When we fight, we stop talking. The issues are only half-way solved because we can't understand what went wrong. I'll tell you what, I bet it was communication.

And everyday, immigrants come to America unable to speak our language. How is it that these brave men and women are willing to take the risk for a better life when our own citizens don't even seem willing to take the time to understand these immigrants?

It seems minimal, but our effort could be multiples over and over again if our schools offered languages at a much younger age. Starting in high school isn't enough. The struggle for breaking those communication barriers should start as soon a possible, and with the youth of today.

I completely agree. It gets harder to learn a langauge as you get older. In Europe you learn a bunch of different languges in school starting the early years. I loved learning American Sign Language and wished I had the oprituinity to learn it earlier. Of course my little sister has taken spanish courses and she is in like second grade. So it depends on the school I guess!

Communication, in all its forms, is a great way for us to express ourselves, but we will allways be left with some notions that we would like to communicate that would be impossible to put into words.

As you put it yourself people will always have problems with communication. it doesnt matter what language they speak. the real issue here is that people need to become more open minded and tolerant with different poeple. we need to be open to the idea that we are ignorant beings that need constant knowledge to be nourished.

Language in high school is so hard! Not only do you have a whole new set of emotions and ideas to express, you also have to learn a whole new language, one you've had limited or no exposure to in the past. Communication is key, but communication is really hard. It's hard to tell someone you just don't want to be friends anymore, and even harder if your reason is that it's just not fun. Too often the solution to this situation is to just stop talking, leaving only confusion, anger, and hurt in the wake. It's absolutely awful!
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
