I've been meaning to make this assurance post for quite some time. I'd like to get it down in HTML so that I'm not the biggest snob flake on ProgressiveU.
Many of my blogs take on the serious form of antiquities we're approaching. I try to be as positive as I can, offering new tips for more sustainable design, living and lobbying. But the other side of my blogs have broadly begun to question whether Americans, or humans in general, can ever lower their carbon footprint to a level measurable to other lively forms.
After seeing people like Ray Anderson spill their business stories on "The Corporation" (an excellent film that dehumanizes the captains of industry) I believe we have a chance. We can reverse the ways of the plunderer. I believe we have the ability to consciously eliminate the distance between each individual human and each deserving organism. But I'm not a philosopher. I'm not a fortune teller. I believe in the best of human nature. What is the best?
Ask yourself whether the consumption of resources elevates we the human race. We do have craniums. Ask yourself whether the conservation and circulation of resources elevates our species and exemplifies us at our best.
Back to the impetus. I am no saint. I'm on ProU for 2 hours each day, while my computer day-life extends longer. This represents a lifestyle that is unfit for replication. You could say that I'm a conscious individual and I'd like it if you did. But I'm not, because each time I log in, or press the power bouton, I'm not actively thinking.
I'm not asking questions like where did this power I'm draining come from? Or is this actively propelling a sustainable lifestyle? Is this action something that can (more like should this) in the future be passed down to my offspring? This lifestyle? This trait of narcissism?
But 'no', you might say. 'No, no, no. You're spreading ideas and thoughts for adoption by the ProU community.'
Sure, I've believed this, but it's only been an unconscious hope; something at the bag of my head defaming the truth. And we all know that those who define reality win.
How do I know that anyone has adopted anything that I've written? I don't, and so you might say the net effect of blogging on ProgressiveU has been negative. Honestly that's an intimidating thought; a likely one.
But I digress. The impetus for this post is simple: I will unplug my account in June and spend a solar season in complete reclusivity. This action doesn't represent to me anything arcane or something prideful. It's just one of those things that you do, you know, because it's the right thing.

Because it would represent the best of my own human nature.

nice.....i.ummm....does this show me that my reasoning on rebellious nature of humans is wrong or no?
I don't know. Maybe it's a bit reticent to climb Mount Sustainability...

The June weather might be the reason that you are able to conquor your internet habit. Hiking and enjoying the outdoors in Montana in June has to ease the pain of kicking free of the computer.
I am very positive about human motives also, but I try to stay realistic.
Maybe a solar pannel, or wind turbine could help ease your feelings of power gluttony while surfing the web.

Yeah you may be right. And i could dig some decentralized clean stuff. That'd do the trick.
Until then, there's always the dirty rock feeling I get when coal dominates the energy scene, making up two-thirds of state elec. generation.
