Music

Is it jsut me or is anyone else fed up with today's music. Today's music is so fake and superficial. I mean there are a few good artist out there like Chrisette Michele, Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco, India Arie, Floetry, and a few others, but that's about it. Today's music has to a dive to the worst. Music just isnt what it used to be, or if it is, it doesn't make the radio. The youth of today would rather hear music about telling a trick "Yahh", and you not being "Fly Like Me," than music that requires a little thinking like Lupe Fiasco's "Superstar", or India Arie's "I am Not My Hair." It's not just the fault of the youth. It is partialy the fault of the artist too. Some of them are so scared to step out of the box and become an invidual, that they are killing the variety of music. If there is no variety, then all the music starts to sound the same, and that is what we have today. In order to break this chain of alikeness we have to face our fear of rejection. With approval comes rejection. We can't avoid rejection our whole lives.

PERSONALITY = INDIVIDUALITY = DIFFERENT = NOT EVERYONE ELSE

Most mainstream artists you cannot differentiate (I hope I spelled that correctly) from any other ones. My type of music is mainly underground. Granted, a few of them sound similar (UnderOath and Four Letter Lie), but for the most part, they are very much individualists. I love it.
