After the 5th day, you start getting restless. You watch around you, the horizon becomes brighter as the power is restored… to others. Darkness sets in. You can't leave because you need fuel. The sense of togetherness you once felt with other victims seems to dissipate into isolation. The cool breeze is relaxing. Something freedom doesn't allow. The darkness hides the destruction that haunts you by day. Candlelight is casting ghostly shadows on the walls. There is so much time to think... Silence frightens you. Sleeping is easy the first few nights, something we've abandoned for the illusion of independence. But this night... sleep evades you. You curse yourself for trusting in humanity. I must ask, are we really that free? There are people watching you if you're out at night. Under the conditions, this curfew is understandable, but how long until this country will always be like this? Freedom… Deep inside you know it can be taken away, is being taken away, with one signature. If
these hurricanes and other disasters can bring us to our knees in a matter of hours, should we really trust our leaders, our technology? Thank God Bin Laden is not a sorcerer commanding the winds against us. We are enslaved by the illusion of independence. We are "in dependence" to the power companies, grocers, phone companies, governments, and banks. These institutions and their inferior technologies should be simply a convenience, never a necessity. I
say inferior because there are great inventions that get suppressed by
these same institutions because it threatens their very existence as a
necessity. The 3rd world thinks we are like spoiled children. Damn right we are!! We're paying top dollar to live "free". I dare every one of you to go to the bank and withdraw all of your money… every dime. Without your money the banks lose their death grip on you, prices and inflation drop, and you now hold the keys. They have the ability to create money out of nothing and this makes your dollar worth less. When you stop paying for their freedom, you will become free. Free to live by your own choices not the choices authorities give you. I know my money is safer on me than anywhere else… so is yours. With this knowledge I am relaxing in the cool breeze. I am sleeping better at night. Something freedom will not allow… their freedom. The darkness has exposed the destruction that haunts us. I am of the darkness, and I am free…
