I fear for the safety of our children. Every day I hear about another case of child molestation, rape, or some other form of sexual abuse against children. Then I see the people responsible for doing this atrocities, walking around free. These disgusting pedophiles, get a light slap on the wrist after causing pain to countless numbers of children. They are released from jail after serving a short amount of time, and able to continue ruining children lives. The system that release them back into the world, claims they are rehabilitated. But how do they truly know? Why are they so willing to risk the safety and well-being of our children? These people who harm our children should not be allowed the opportunity to do it again. I say our children, because it is the responsibility of society as a whole to protect those who cannot protect themselves. These are all of our children who are being subjected to the daily abuse that could be prevented. Many of these perpetrators are repeat offenders. If they were supposed to be rehabilitated why are they repeat offenders? All these pedophiles are doing is creating another generations of pedophiles. Studies have shown that most pedophiles were abused themselves. If the person who hurt them was stopped before they caused the damaged, would their life had been different? We will never know. These poor innocent children’ lives are being stolen from them. The damage created from being sexually abused is irreversible. These little children’ lives are destroyed. Some are able to cope and move onto live productive and joyful lives. But others are not. These are the ones that need to be fought a little harder for. They are the ones that need to be helped after the fact, and loved even more. But what if what happened to them could have been avoided? What if the horror that so many children are subjected to was prevented? Aren’t our children worth anything? Shouldn’t they be protected? Why do the pedophiles have more rights than their victims? What does this say about how society? When children’s innocents are stolen, the whole world should take notice. Children’s safety should not be an issue. If we cannot rely on our lawmakers to pass laws that can guarantee the protection of our children, who can we turn to? Should we take it upon ourselves to protect our children, by any means nessasary? Or will lawmakers finally realize that someone has to save our children.

well...seems we can rely on our lawmakers to have affairs with our kids....
Personally, I'm always afraid of the big bad wolf, and mentally calculating whats the best way to hide a body if somebody does that to my kids.
haha NO, I'm kidding I'm kidding......Or am I? *rubs chin like dr. Evil*

I wonder tha same thing. If someone should hurt my child or any child close to my heart, should I rely on the law, or take the matter into my own hands?
Not kidding.
There is something like a 67% rate of recidivism amongst sexual offenders. It's incredibly sad that we allow them to spend a few years in jail, during which time they receive very little treatment, and then expect to be able to release them back into society and be okay and never harm another child. As should be obvious by now, prison time alone is not, has never been, and will never be enough to rehabilitate rapists, molesters, predators, etc, etc, etc. I think the answer is taking the fight to our lawmakers. It's easy to ignore people when all they are doing is bitching quietly about the problem. If every single one of those concerned individuals would write and call and fax and email and protest to our lawmakers until they got sick and tired of hearing from millions of citizens... they'd do something about it. There simply isn't enough of that going on however... people seem content to be aghast about the problem, gripe and complain and preach to the choir... and never say a word to those responsible for making laws.

soo what your saying here is because of the recidivism rate, and the lack of qualified therapy just mets they'll harm again is that we should advocate for the electric chair...or we should meet them in a dark alley?
www.worldcantwait.com
Neither. I'm saying jail terms should be longer, and therapy alternatives should be intense and there should be no third chances. First offense 10 years (mandatory), second offense, life without parole. Becoming a vigilante is not the answer... all you manage to do then is ruin your child's life further. They take away the childs innocence, you take away their parent. What does that solve?
I'm also saying that instead of people preaching to the choir, they need to be lobbying their elected officials day and night until the laws are changed. There are countless millions of people that want change... how many of those millions have taken the official routes to lobby for change?

I'm not saying I would kill the person respondsible for hurting my child. I believe there are fates worse then death.
For which you would go to jail and deprive your child of his or her parent... still doesn't solve anything, just makes it worse. Vigilante justice doesn't mean murder.
I'd feel the same way if it were one of my children of nephews, but there are alternatives. We just have to pressure our lawmakers to make those alternatives law and stop tip-toeing around the issue.

I'm not saying they should be put to death, but raping an innocent child, they should receive harsher prison sentences. Repeat offenders should not be allowed back out on the street.
And no we don't have to meet them in a dark alley, we can meet them in a crowded street. If someone hurts my child that's where they should watch for me.
Someone very close to me was a victim of molestation by someone she thought she could trust, at least somewhat. This person has 2 small children at home and has not yet been prosecuted or indicted. He was arrested on charges, then bonded out of jail. This was almost 2 years ago. I think it's freakin rediculous the kind of time these people spend on the streets even after they have done this to a child. The girl was 11 at the time. Although this may not be a consolation for what he did to her, her brothers beat the brakes off the dude and had he been on the street instead of on the inside of a car clinging to a steering wheel for dear life, he probably would be dead right now. But I do agree with TSewell said about there being far worse punishment than death and in my neck of the woods, it's called county jail with people who are away from their families for small charges that just can't wait until a child molester walks through the door. There is no better justice.
I totally agree with TSewell. I found a statistic that the average predator molests 50+ children before getting caught. These people that hurt our children get very light sentences. Sexual preditors should be locked away for life without parole. Because in prison predators are not around children. In prison they may be model prisoners but the only reason they are is because they have no children to seek out and destroy. They do their short prison sentences and get out to molest again.
what do you think about castration..perhaps on the second offense?
www.worldcantwait.com
I totally agree with castration, but on the first offense. I have read articles about sex offenders that have even asked for it, because they realize they have a problem and want to fix it. I even read that one child molester, begged to be castrated, but for whatever reason was not allowed to have it done. I'm not sure why. maybe someone else has heard about this. I think if the sex offender want it done, even ask for it, they want help and realize what they are doing is wrong. But those that could care less, and keep doing it, and don't see anything worng with it, need harsher punishments
