Working Out

Working out is hard to find time to do. I come home from school have chores and homework to do and sometimes I just really dont want to work out. The hardest part about working out is that I'm not necessarily trying to loose weigth ( even though I could loose about 10 pounds) I really want to build muscle. I'll do hundreds of push ups and the next day my arms will be sore but I dont ever get stronger or build more muscle. I just want stronger arms, thighs , abs and maybe even calfs. It is hard to achieve. I do cardio plus conditioning. (When I find time) But still I'm not really seeing any results. I try to eat more fruits and vegtables and less junk food and sugar. I just dont know why I'm not getting results. Unfortuantly I dont have a gym membership so I dont use equipment but I do weight resistance stuff such as push ups, squats, etc. I normally am able to work out more during the summer but when I have before I didnt really gain muscle. Is the two months in summer enough to build muscle? Does anybody have any tips for loosing some weight and gaining muscle?

Do you have a track team? Join it.
I'm on it, and boy, if I wasn't I would NOT work out. Ever.
There are times when I head down to the track in the worst mood because I just am not in the mood to experience pain, sweat, and agony.
But the thing about being on a team is that you can't just not go if you don't want to. So at the end of the day, when you're done working out you look back and realize how happy you are that you joined, and that you HAD to work out, because if you didn't have that push you would have otherwise done something unproductive.

I'm actually on the Volleyball team and Softball team which is why I want to build muscle. So I can excel in those sports.

To build muscle, your workouts have to be consistent.

Working to "burn' is a good thing.... if you're not sore the next day, you'll never get anywhere. But you need to get to burn EVERY OTHER DAY.

Monday, say, you do arms/abs/back. Then Wednesday, you do legs and shoulders. Then Friday, you do arms/abs/back again. You'll constantly be sore, but if you're not, then you'll never build muscle.

You should workout at about the same time every day, too.

And eat lots of protein.

:)
