Yea, I already knew Chavez hates Bush, but geesh.

Whyyyyy??? Chavez is scaring me. He's throwing too many threats out there and I can't even say if they're idle or not. First changing the Venezuelan flag and now threatening the safety of the American peoples?

So here's the low-down. Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, was on a two-day trip into the UK. And while he was there he spoke on his stance on socialism among other things. To sum it all up he wants a socialist new world order because he feels capitalism is a "destructive" system and that "socialism is the way forward and he said that other countries were cowards and in the wrong for not standing up to the "American empire".

Then because Chavez sleeps, eats, and dreams of oil he mentions that an attack on Iran by the U.S. would make Tehran cut of its oil supply to the U.S.  Currently Venezuela is the fifth-largest oil supplier in the world, so, of course, he has a pretty big say-so when it comes to the whole oil provision thing.

"If the United States attacks Iran... oil could reach $100 (£52) a barrel or more," he said.

Wasn't there just a poll on this? I don't even drive a large car and the gas prices ranging from about $3 to $3.15 for regular are killing me. Poor broke university student that I am.

"If they (the US) attack Iran I think it's going to be far worse than what is currently happening in Iraq."

Really, is all this necessary? I mean good gracious. What ever happened to DIPLOMACY!!!! I think people are too stuck on being the biggest, baddest hegemon that they feel the only way to get their point across successfully is to disregard all other opinions and force their way to the top. Damn you people.

And then Chavez said that Iran would more than likely attack Israel (something the U.S. is trying to prevent from happening) because Iran has the needed equipment to do so, think nuclear weapons.

And because Chavez is anti-anything that's remotely American he called unrestricted free trade "a trap by the world's most powerful so they can keep the weakest in slavery".

So how do you feel about the way Chavez is making his point known? What about capitalism vs. socialism and free trade agreements? Yes? No?  What about the U.S. being in Iraq now being compared to the U.S. being in Vietnam in the 60s and 70s?

What's wrong with what he said? He wasn't threatning America, he stating that if the US attacks Iran, oil will go up. Attacking Iran brings more foreign entities into the game and makes a much more complicated problem than Iraq. He's just stating the truth. He isn't threatning the safety America.
