Why only Darfur?

It seems that the Save Darfur movement is all the rage with the left-of-center, save-the-world crowd.  Darfur is the home to a genocide in which almost 500,000 have died from starvation or disease as a result of the warring by the Arab Janjaweed on the non-Arab groups living in the Darfur region of the Sudan.

While this is indeed a great tragedy, people have seemed to have lost sight of that in order to follow what seems more like a trend than an actual humanitarian effort.  People don't seem to care about the issue of genocide, but instead on holding and attending benefits for this one region in this one nation of Africa.

The continent of Africa alone is ridden with genocide, including those in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Chad.  The world is also suffering genocide in Asia in more than just Tibet.  The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China, Burma (Myanmar, the country's new name unrecognized by the UN), Uzbekistan (and various other -stans using the war on terror as a tool for the mass killing of 'subversives') are all ridden with genocides.

How can we choose to ignore these countries?  Is Save Darfur a concerned effort anymore, or is it just a passing trend?

I agree that some people use the genocide to make themselves look good, look humanitarian.

But there are many individuals who genuinely care about improving the region, and work hard to bring forth that positive change.

Even if it is a trend, I would rather see people trying to get involved in the fight on genocide than simply ignore it completely.

Why is Darfur publicized more than other African genocides? That, I'm not completely sure. I wouldn't attack the fact that Darfur is so heavily emphasized (and even that isn't that much in the US mainstream media, at least), but I would attack the fact that the other genocides aren't brought to attention.
