Take Action & Make a Positive Difference in a Child's Life!

Join along with me and participate in the efforts of CASA, The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, and become a community volunteer by advocating for the rights, protection and welfare of children in our court and foster care system.

According to CASA's website at,   http://www.nationalcasa.org/index.htm, there are over one half million children in the United States foster care system due to an unsafe family environment.  Volunteers for CASA work to protect these children from further abuse and neglect due to an over-burdened court system or home environment.  CASA's mission is to join efforts with its state and local members to support court appointed volunteer advocates for abused children, so they can thrive in safe, nurturing and permanent homes.

Take action and make a positive impact in our communities and the lives of children by becoming a trained CASA volunteer.  I am in the process of becoming a volunteer for a local organization, known as Child Advocates Incorporated, which is involved with the CASA program.  Since I am pursuing my BSW degree with the desire to work in the human services industry helping children, I thought this type of volunteer work would be quite fitting in enhancing my skills while making a difference in our society.  Once I complete my degree program, I plan to dedicate a life long career in promoting the advocacy and welfare of children.  The organization I joined has an application and orientation process along with a three week training program.  They only ask that upon the completion of my training, that I commit to 9 hours a month, which also means I dedicate my time to one child a month.  That's only giving your time to one child a month...that is not asking much of anyone!  I think this is something that more people need to do to protect our children's lives and futures!  I am really excited about this program, and happy to know that I am making a positive impact in children's lives!

CASA organizations have a wonderful training program and amazing mentors to help volunteers along the path of child advocacy through volunteerism.  Through your efforts, you can make a life long impact on a child's life.  To find a CASA program in your area and learn more about child advocacy volunteer opportunities, please visit:  http://www.nationalcasa.org/htm/find_casa.htm
