Support Our Troops!

Make a positive difference and put a smile on a soldier's face not just during May, National Military Appreciation Month, but every month!  I've been sending care packages to our troops for fifteen years.  Many of them do not get a lot of correspondence from family and friends and would love to know that a perfect stranger cares enough to send letters and care packages.  You can even incorporate the Kindness Project with care packages to show support to our military men and women.  To learn more, see my blog on the Kindness Project at:

Another thought would be to join the efforts of National Make a Difference Day and campaign your friends and family to join in on sending a goal of 100 care packages and letters for example to troops overseas.  Feel free to check out my blog on National Make a Difference Day for further information and ideas at:

They need our support not just during times of war, holidays and national military appreciation month, but always.   Help boost morale and show support through sending letters and care packages to our troops serving to protect our country and our freedom!  Become a penpal to a service man or woman and send items for them to share with their fellow soldiers.  You can find out more information on sending care packages and becoming a penpal for our military personnel at the following links:

Show your support and kindness and start making a difference!  If you have any ideas on showing support or have a personal story you'd like to share in how you've helped our troops and veterans, please respond to this blog.  Thank you!

Even if you are agianst the war (as I am) do please support the troops. They joined the military to protect America, they didn't know they'd end up over there.

Thank you for your response, CallieV. I do not support the war either; however, I will always support our troops. They are protecting us even when there is not a war. We should show our appreciation through supporting them and sending care packages and other correspondence. Thank you for supporting our troops! I hope you have an enjoyable holiday weekend! :)

thank god for our military

Amen to that! Thank you for showing your support! :)

i am against the war, but I love my troops. I have a lot of family and friends that are in the military and I worry about them a lot. I do appreciate everything they've done for us.

Thank you for sharing & showing your support for the troops. I also have friends and family serving in the military. I hope they all come home safe. Thinking of the families that have lost loved ones while serving to protect our nation. And thinking of those that are anxiously awaiting the safe homecoming of their loved ones that are still serving our country.

This month also marks the 60th anniversary of the care package! Check out the history and more on this celebration of helping others with care packages at:

Good idea. I'll adopt a soldier. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The Sky is Falling, Recreate it for a Better Day

Hi juliesBlueSkyFalling. Hope you're having a good day! Thanks for supporting soldiers through your efforts! I often send care packages to the men and women serving our country. And often times, they write back to thank me for my efforts and to also generally keep in touch and form a 'penpal' friendship. They enjoy hearing stories from home and positive things that are going on in our society. I'd love to hear how your adopting a soldier turns out, so please keep me posted! Take care.

I didn't realize that most of those sites were geared toward the single scene. Thank you for sharing this new link! I had not heard of it before now. I'm glad that you applied to become a pen-pal for a soldier! I hope you hear something soon. I'd love to hear more about your future experiences as a pen-pal, so please keep me posted. Good luck with this new endeavor & thank you for supporting our soldiers!

In Bourne, Massachusetts, a fife and drum band led a hearse carrying the remains of 6 Union soldiers to the Massachusetts National Cemetary, where they were buried this past weekend 145 years after they died in the Civil War.
The soldiers, killed in a skirmish days before the first battle of Manassas (a Confederate victory in July 1861 that surprised President Lincoln), were discovered in unmarked graves in the early 1990's, when relic hunters came across bones on a site slated for the construction of a restaurant in Centreville, VA.
War records and other clues, including uniform types, revealed them as members of the 1st Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. The remains were turned over to the Smithsonian Institution, where they stayed for about a decade.
