STEREOTYPES - the mark of Prejudice?

  •     Stereotypes, as we know them, are negative beliefs or emotional associations based upon the need to justify behavior. The most common, that I can think of is, ie: if a man is dumped by a woman, it's not his fault.  It's hers!  She is referred to as "that BITCH" or "Yeah.  My ex is a real bitch."  But when my fiancee came across a joke in his email, I just knew, you'd appreciate in reading it:

  •       Seems God was just about done creating the universe when He told Adam and Eve that He'd give them each one "special" gift.  God said that one gift would allow that person to pee while standing up.  "It's very handy. I WAS WONDERING...WHO WOULD LIKE IT?"

Adam jumpping up and down said, "OHHHH, please.  Please! Pleeese! Give it to me."  He went on and on and on like an excited little boy.

So Eve, ever so tolerant, said, "Give it to Adam."  Adam so excited, went whizzing on the bark of a tree and then to write his name in the sand.

God turned to Eve and said, "Well, here's the other gift I promised you. I guess you can have it."

                 "What's it called?" Eve asked.

                 "BRAINS,"  God said.

The sterotype that "men are smarter then women" is  safe to assume writen by a man.  However, I Believe both men and women are equal.  But I also know for certain that "behind every man there is a great woman."

I didn't enjoy this post. Go to hell.

Hm. You're a very tolerant person, sheep.

jackrobin, I don't see how this post is relevant to anything. It's rather short, and your joke seems to spread stereotypes. Most humans are smart regardless of gender, just in their own ways. You also don't go into a very good diatribe on how stereotypes spread prejudice. Yes, it is a quite funny joke, but not used very effectively to proove your point.

I don't see where you came up with the idea that the stereotype you mentioned is the most common one you know. I've never heard a stereotype like that. I agree with the other two, your argument doesn't really prove anything.
