Random Acts of Kindness: Join the efforts of the Kindness Project

Tagged:  •

In October of 1997, The M.I.S.S. Foundation at http://www.missfoundation.org created the Kindness Project.  They created 'Kindness Cards' that you can see examples of and ordering info at:  http://missfoundation.org/kindness/cards.html.  The idea is to do a random act of kindness in memory of a loved one.  Many choose to do such random acts of kindness annonymously by helping out a loved one or a complete stranger.  By writing down your deceased loved one's name on the card and leaving it behind, the person benefiting from your kindness knows that someone's life and death continue to matter.  This is a beautiful tribute to our loved one's, a creative outlet for those that are grieving, and a way to make a positive impact on someone.  For more information on the M.I.S.S. Foundation's Kindness Project, please visit:    http://missfoundation.org/kindness/index.html

Make a difference in another's life by doing an annonymous random act of kindness for someone.  You'll not only feel good about it, but you will make someone's day!  If you have participated in random acts of kindness, please feel free to share your ideas by responding to this blog.  Thank you.  Please check out my blog on further efforts to make a difference at:      http://www.progressiveu.org/190000-national-make-a-difference-day-saturday-october-26-2006

Someone washed my car windows and a homemade card about random acts was on my window. I have never heard of this organization before, I wonder if it was affiliated with this.

That is such a kind gesture that someone did for you! Maybe the person couldn't afford to buy the kindness cards and made a homemade one instead. Thank you for sharing your random act of kindness experience!
Perhaps you can pass on the gesture and make someone else's day.

One year, on my son's birth anniversary, I annonymously donated some toys to the local children's hospital with a random act of kindness card attached to the gift listing his first name on it.

Peace,

kdirby

it was a good surprise. I have embraced the idea of random acts of kindness but have never I guess "labeled" anything. So I would have never thought of doing it in someone else's name.

it reminds me of something my friend started, paying for people's food behind you in the drive thru. Maybe instead of just paying but giving the cashier the card to give to them when they go to pay.

Accepting everything means you believe in nothing.

That's an excellent idea, geniseeann! I have a friend that every so often will get the total for the person's order behind her in the drive-thru and she'll hand the cashier the money and kindness card with her son's name on it. The cards have the M.I.S.S. Foundation's email address on them, and often times recipients of the acts of kindness will write in thank you notes that are later posted with permission in the organization's newsletter. Kindness cards or not, random acts of kindness are a beautiful and thoughtful thing to do to help make a positive difference in someone's day.

This is one of my favorite quotes and a saying that I definitely live by: "A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed."-Ibsen (1828-1906)

We had to pass cards around in my psych class and write nice things about the person on it. It was stupid, I dont even talk to half the people in my class.

You don't have to know someone to do a good deed and make a positive difference in someone's day!
