I was surprised to find out that President George W. Bush, yes the actual man, in person (not a mask!) was giving out candy on Halloween night in central Georgia. Infact, it was just a few miles from my hometown!
It's true...
Here are a few snippets from my local newspaper about the President's unexpected, surprise stop in central Georgia on Tuesday...
"Ordinarily, a group of people wearing masks couldn't get anywhere near the president of the United States, but Tuesday night was an exception.

On his return from the election rally in Perry, President Bush diverted his motorcade through the Museum of Aviation parking lot and into a housing area at Robins Air Force Base.
There, hundreds of little gremlins, goblins and princesses lined up to greet the world's most important candy distributor.
The children had all come out for the usual Halloween trick-or-treating in the Turner Park housing area. But when Secret Service agents showed up, word quickly got around that the president was coming to hand out candy.
The presidential limousine stopped where a line of kids had formed and Bush started handing out boxes of White House M&Ms.
One of the first in line was 10-year-old Savannah Parrish, dressed as a princess.
"I think he's very cool," said Savannah. "He said, 'Here you go.' " |
I'm not a huge supporter of Bush, but I think that what he did will definitely have an impact on central Georgia in the next election. It was a great chance (and surprise) for many of the children and perents in my area! Plus it was good publicity for him...and kinda exciting. Because nothing exciting ever happens around here!

I wish I lived in your neighborhood! :o
"You are narrow-minded because you disagree with me."
Unfortunately, I didnt' know about it until really late that night, so I didn't get to meet him. I would've liked that alot though!
You know, the Bush administration might be making a few questionable decisions, but you can't argue, the Prez really is a nice guy
I like President Bush. I have great respect for him and he is a great leader. I'm just not one of his "biggest fans"...I know people who go crazy about Bush. That's not me. But I do think he's a great guy.
