During Memorial Day weekend or any day get out and do something different! Make a difference and honor our past and current men and women serving to protect our country! Pay tribute to our fallen soldiers and visit war memorials, museums and veteran cemeteries and learn something new about American history. Honor our men and women that are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces by sending care packages to them. Sending care packages to our soldiers is something I have been doing yearly for over 15 years. It's a great feeling to know, that I have contributed to boosting their morale and showing support and giving thanks to all they do in protecting our country. Visit patients at your local VA hospitals. The kindness you give will be much appreciated to these people that may be alone not just during the Memorial Day holiday weekend but any day. Donate and/or offer your time by volunteering at VA hospitals or at the Disabled Veterans of America and many other organizations that cater to helping those that currently serve and have served in our military. I found a well written editorial blog online at the indystar.com posted on May 26, 2006 by Jane Lichtenberg about honoring our fallen service men and women and those that continue to serve to protect our country. The blog is titled, 'A Time to Remember.' And you can read more about it at:

Here's a very interesting article on a families fight to have medals issued to soldiers killed accidentally during times of war. Please contact your local congressman/woman and help get this honor for our fallen soldiers put into action. Here is a link to the article:

A federal iniiative from the White House Commission on the National Moment of Remembrance urges a new american tradition on Memorial Day by encouraging a 30 second pause to honor the fallen on Memorial Day. Whether this is a federal request or not, please take a moment of silence to remember our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day and be thankful for the sacrifices they gave for our freedom.
