It seems every blog and comment made about blacks tends to offend people, but comments about white people are accepted and not taken offensively.
What is the difference between the two? They both can be taken as a racist statement. I look at these comments as constructive criticism unless if it is bluntly racist. And usually if it is racist I just look over it.
I find it quite funny though that I am considered white. Majority of my genetics is actually from the Native American background. So to be politically correct I too am part of an oppressed race. But because I look white I am considered white.
So now that my race is clear why do you never hear my people complain about slavery and their hardships in the past? The Trail of Tears alone is worse then anything blacks have went through. At least blacks are not forced to live on reservations in this modern day.
So black people, look at my people as an example and stop whining. Take what you have and do the best you can’t with it. Life is too short to waste it with complaining.

Don't you like how this one hasn't been commented on? I was talking about that on another blog..it's because everyone knows that you are right. You are right in it all.
Yea because they can't pick it apart or find any useless argument to it. Or they may be trying to think of somthing to say bad about it. Most likly you're racist because you talked against blacks or somthing.
Exactly
Well since you are apt for a comment I will.(Your favorite Black Blogger)
Clearly the reason it offends people is because we heard these comments about blacks for the last 400 years. I mean, honestly, what is the point of you complaining that your are called Racist? I want an answer...(I'm not calling you racist)
You stress your majority Native American heritage that is good. The problem is that you also stress your Southern heritage, which is clearly at odds with your other heritage.
Native Americans don't complain? That is funny since I know Native Americans that actually lived on reservations and believe me they are not happy. The problem is they don't have as much access to the media and political power as blacks do. (My ancestors did work had for this)
Comparing the Trail of Tears to Slavery is ignorant, and irresponsible. Both were horrible and if you want to compare, by far the Middle Passage was the most horrible human action in history.

I'm complaining about it because I get tired of being called it everytime I speak out. As you can see I don't care that you are black and I'm not going to kiss your ass by sugar coating my thoughts and opinions. Have I onced called you a nigger or any other racial things? No I havn't. I just went against what society believes and I get called racist for it.
The reason I stress my southern Heritage is because it is as much of my background as my Native American heritage. I do have a right to support all of my heritage am I?
And If you really want to start talking about bad things The Holocost (sp) was worst then both of these. But to put it in perspective due to percentages the Trail of Tears was worse.
16.7 percent of blacks were killed in the Middle Passage.
23.5 percent of Native Americans were killed in the Trail of Tears.
Granted there were about 2 million more blacks killed but the Trail of Tears made a bigger impact on the Native American Race.
You are right you have not called me racist. But I almost garuntee it has ran across your mind at least once or twice.
But the percentages I have were based off the numbers I got off of http://www.wikipedia.org/ .
Its numbers for the blacks was 18 million that were involved with 3 million dieing. For the Native Americans it was 17 thousand Native Americans involved with 4 thousand that had died.
You are right as far as numbers the middle passage was worse but as far as it's impact on the people involved the trail of tears was worse.
Your percentages are different from mine. Sources are unclear about the exact number of blacks that were killed during the middle passage. Remember I didn't start talking about bad things, "The Trail of Tears alone is worse then anything blacks have went through." You did. I just responded like you wanted someone to do.
Maybe you would not be called racist if your ideas were not based on prejudices.
And I haven't called you racist.

What is funny to me is how we argue about which event had a greater effect than the other. But if you are not on the receiving end of the results from these events it really doesn't matter. Both the Trail of Tears and slavery had a great impact on American history. The natives did not ask for their land to be occupied by these outsiders, and africans did not ask to be ripped from their homes and families to be brought to these lands. Both were considered to be ignorant worthless pieces of crap, savage beast as they were called (both native and africans), who were only good for labor to make the Americans rich. Both natives and africans were enslaved, and both natives and africans walked the Trail of Tears. I am considered black, but my history says that I am african, choctaw, cherokee, caucasian, and irish. Whether it was by force (rapping of the female slaves by their masters or any white man who knew he could get away with it) or by love, America is a place of great diversity. But because of many ignorances we can't get pass colors to learn more about one another so that we can build the other up instead of tearing each other down. Not all people whine about the past, unfortunately for some we can not escape it. My mom was asked to put me in a special ed class when I transfered from a mostly black school to a much larger mostly white school. This was without meeting me or testing me. I am not whining but this is something that we can not deny continues to happen even today. Racism is a very touchy subject, and should be spoken on lightly. I think there is a difference of being racist and prejudice. We all have our prejudices. We are prejudice against our own kind (those who LOOK AND ACT like us), other races, religions, people of a different sex, age, etc. But I believe that we only become racists when we act upon these prejudices and fears KILL AND DESTROY. We should also be careful on blaming a whole race for what only a percentage do or has done. Native americans, african americans, and caucasian americans fought for the rights and the freedom that we are able to enjoy today. I am preparing to trace my history and culture background. It's probably going to be easy to find four of them. But since africans were taken from their homeland, and forbidden to practice any of their cultlures or speak any of their languages that history unfortunatley will stop here on the American soil with slavery and American culture. So I don't know how the trail of tears effected you (original blogger) or how slavery effected you (responder), but it has had a great impact on my family on all sides. We should be more sympathetic for the loss that our ancestors experienced during this time of Americanization. And before you (originator) get so irritated with blacks and use nigger at anytime, writing or saying, you should now that word has caused more pain than just about any one word can. So the next time you go to a picnic imagine burning bodies hanging from trees while you are celebrating with your family. Picnic originated from "Pick a Nigger" a celebration that began with racist as they enjoyed a meal with their families (women and children) while burning which ever nigger they so desired.
I don't know what parts you live in, but here indians are prospering very well. They have their own nation with their own capitol. They even have there own policmen. This is not to mention the businesses they have obtained. There are NO RESERVATIONS. And here they are not complaining about their past because they are reaping tremendously from what they went through. Many businesses and the community go to them for help. They even have Trail of Tears celebrations to remember their heritage and celebrate their culture. So I am sorry if this is what you or your family is experiencing, but that's not necessarily the case nation wide.
"Take what you have and do the best you can’t with it. Life is too short to waste it with complaining."
Short. Sweet and to the point! =D Great job.
Why are you playing a game of who was more oppressed? It's just silly. Fight for equality, not compensation for who got the biggest shit on a stick.
>>"At least blacks are not forced to live on reservations in this modern day."
That's right, I forgot that Native Americans are forced to live on reservations to this day...puh-lease. Those that do live on reservations do so by their own choice, and many have used this land for successful business ventures (of course casinos come to mind, but also tax free stores as well.)
Historically Native Americans and Black Americans (African is sometimes not the right usage) have been through a lot here. But I will say with no doubt in my mind that blacks face much more modern discrimination.

"It seems every blog and comment made about blacks tends to offend people, but comments about white people are accepted and not taken offensively."
It seems it seems it seems...*rolls eyes* One of the biggest exaggerations I've ever seen.
"What is the difference between the two? They both can be taken as a racist statement. I look at these comments as constructive criticism unless if it is bluntly racist. And usually if it is racist I just look over it."
At this point I don't even know what you're talking about. You just start rambling on about being racist. If you're going to speak, be specific about what you're talking about. When did this occur? What exactly were they talking about? Don't just start rambling, because it's very hard for me to view you as anything but a troll (and the fact that you posted as 'Guest' just fuels that theory). Perhaps THAT'S why not too many people have commented.
"I find it quite funny though that I am considered white. Majority of my genetics is actually from the Native American background. So to be politically correct I too am part of an oppressed race. But because I look white I am considered white."
And what exactly is "majority"? I would love to know.
"The Trail of Tears alone is worse then anything blacks have went through. At least blacks are not forced to live on reservations in this modern day."
Oh my God. I just lost brain cells reading that. As TJBric has already implied, it is completely ignorant and insensitive of you to compare this tragedy with any other tragedy. (And no I'm not being "politically correct"-if it were a black person talking about the Trail of Tears I'd be saying the same thing to them-get off your high horse.)
"So black people, look at my people as an example and stop whining. Take what you have and do the best you can’t with it. Life is too short to waste it with complaining."
Whining? Oh really? You are again, ignorant. Don't think a media whore like Al Sharpton represents an entire group of people. Just because HE jumps at every chance he gets to cry racism does NOT mean an entire group of people whine and complain about racism and injustice everyday. *rolls eyes*
