In my Introduction to the Mass Media class the other day we were discussing whether the government/media's portrayl of 'terrorism' is merely a scare tactic or if the threat is real. This made me wonder what intelligent minds outside of journalism specifically thought of terrorism. I think a lot of the people in my class were sort of biased because we are journalists. Of course we cover terrorism in the media because its important, relevant, and what the public wants to be notified of- and everyone else ought to agree!!! Consequently, I have created a new poll for everyone based on our discussion. I tried to make the catergories based on what people usually have to say about terrorism, but just in case I forgot a catergory, I added a catch all 'other.' Anyway, check it out by clicking above. I think terrorism is a real thing. Do I believe that the media hypes it up sometimes to increase viewership? Yeah! It seems like we're obbessed with human suffering or something. But I do believe terrorism is just one of the evils of the world. Hey, think about it, there was terrorism before there was media coverage of it, we just didn't know.

I believe terrorist exists but not as heavily as the media in America makes us believe. Somethings dealing with "terrorism" and the attack of 9.11 seem a little fishy. There is some missing information in some of the stories. Why couldn't 737 airplane wreckage be found? I have watched movies like "Ferenheit 9/11" and another movie that demonstrated perfectly with visual evidence that American US Troop planes were what crashed into the Twin Towers. It is said that detenators were planted in the Twin Towers, what do you guys think?

terrorism is defined as "the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes".
in other words, bush is a terrorist, but tries to convince us that others are.
fighting terrorism with terrorism? i don't buy it.
