Lockdown

In response to the recent events at schools, such as the shootings in the Amish school, the high school that I go to got worried and the principal and community started to wonder, "What would happened if if incidents like this happened at DHS [the school I go to]?"

Sooooooo, they decided to have a meeting and plan an emergency plan. Tomorrow, Friday morning, we will have a pretend lockout at school.  We are going to pretend that a person with weapons is on campus and students are to lay down on the floor until it is safe to get up.  Anyone who disobeys is going to get in trouble with the principal...and when the principal is mad...whoooooooo....

At first my government teacher and other students were making fun of it.  My teacher was saying stuff like "Oh yeah...I have bandaids, a diaper, some stickers, and we're just going to hang out under the window."

Yeah, I was also rolling my eyes and saying stuff like "So if someone is taking a shit, and an armed person comes, what if they still have their pants down???  Shittt, if something like this really happened at school, I would just run as fast as I can to my car and drive home."

Then, I started thinking.

What would I really do if something like this happened?  When incidents like this happened in Colorado, Las Vegas, and Pennsylvania,  what went through the students' and teachers' minds?  What if they went off to school that morning without saying "I love you" to their loved ones?  Were they crying or just in shock and had no clue what to do?

Schools are suppose to be safe, but today schools have polices roaming around, students carrying guns, fights, drug dealing, etc..
