Kerry calls out Blackwell; Republicans cry like babies--Updated

Wow!  John Kerry sent out a strong, concise message yesterday about fair elections and supporting candidates  who provide fair elections and protect democracy.  In this case,  he's supporting Ted Strickland who is fighting against the corrupt and partisan engineer of the Bush/Cheney win in Ohio 2004.

 Via John Kerry's email:

As I write to you today, Ted Strickland is offering Ohioans a better choice in a campaign that our entire country is watching.

The choice couldn’t be clearer.

On one side is Ted Strickland – a good man admired by Democrats and Republicans alike.  On the other side is his Republican opponent, Ken Blackwell, who has used his office to abuse our democracy and threaten basic voting rights.

Support Strickland. Beat Blackwell. Donate Now.

This isn’t just rhetoric. As you know, in 2004 while serving as a co-chair of George W. Bush’s 2004 Presidential campaign in Ohio, Secretary of State Blackwell oversaw the state’s 2004 election.  He used the power of his state office to try to intimidate Ohioans and suppress the Democratic vote.  Is he ashamed of what he did? No – he’s emboldened by it.

Since 2004, he has twisted the election process even more, adding new voting regulations that have created confusion and controversy. His legacy as Secretary of State? Putting partisanship ahead of the electorates’ fundamental right to vote. That’s not just a reason not to promote him as Governor; it demands a grassroots mission to stop Ken Blackwell from getting a further grip on power in Ohio.

That is why I am asking you to act right now to help Ted Strickland wage an all-out effort in this tough race.  It is a contest in which every Ohio citizen has a stake.

Well, this statement has certainly sent the Republicans scurrying for cover.  The best they can come up with is, "John Kerry conceded..."

So let's pretend that Republicans were mature, honest adults instead of big bullies who don't care if they have to push minorities and poor people around to get their way.

Fact one:

Even before November 2, 2004, Blackwell took steps to steal legitimate voters by making the claim that "Only registrations made with 80 lb stock would be accepted."  The Ohio courts had to force him to accept all voter registrations.

Fact Two:

Blackwell researched Ohio laws to find antiquated laws that would legally suppress minority votes even if those antiquated laws were made prior to the Voting Rights Act.

Fact Three:

Voters in Democratic areas faced long endless lines while our fair and nonpartisan (cough..hack...cough) Help America Vote appointees galloped across the country to states that weren't even considered a famous battleground state.  Were they in Ohio?  No.  Were they in Florida?  No.  Not one.  Not for one minute.

Fact four:

Blackwell refused to allow provisional ballots to be filled out and even violated Ohio law as well as the Help America Vote Act..  Furthermore he took away 33% of the provisional ballots instead of the 17% taken away in the 2000 election. That's a huge increase!

Blackwell represents the Face of Jim Crow.  And Republicans spent today yowling about John Kerry instead fixing the corruption in their own party.  They don't care about protecting our democratic right to vote, but man...they love to whine like spoiled children who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

No matter what happened November 2, 2004, today August 29, 2006  the problem is the Republican party's strategic suppression of voters and their further delay of committing themselves to making sure that every Americans right to vote is protected

Update:  Kenneth Blackwell cries foul when faced with the facts about his healthcare plan.  Typically, Kenneth Blackwell is content to lie and cheat without suffering from any ramifications from his actions.  Today however, he filed a suit with the FEC claiming that the facts are wrong.

Tell you what Mr. Blackwell...come testify to your allegations under oath...just like you testified about the election suppression and fraud under oath...and maybe we'll believe you.

In the meantime, a simple google search will show how the Republican spin machine has set forth their anti-Kerry attack; however, not one shows the truth.  Look for my next post to show how Kerry was right once again.

Yes, Fox News is Conservative. Together with talk radio, the Wall Street Journal and the Chicago Tribune, they form the Conservative Media. On the flip side, liberals control the New York Times, The LA Times, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, PBS, Time Newsweek, Hollywood, most major universities and the list goe on and on. There is a liberal media bias and you are a fascist if you deny conservatives one tiny little beachhead with Fox News. Whatever happened to the marketplace of ideas ? Get over it.

But they don't even bother telling people the TRUTH.

SO in the name of bi-partisonship, I'd like to tell you to keep your fox as long as THEY state, "We promote conservative OPINIONS and we have a CONSERVATIVE BIAS." They have FAILED to tell the truth and they CONTINUE to fail to tell the truth about their opinions, newsbased bias, and their propaganda and withholding of BOTH sides of the TRUTH.

Truth

Truth

Truth

THAT's what it should boil down to.

And that's not Democratic or Republican. Truth is for the GOOD of all AMERICANS and the WORLD at large.
