High school football players have different rules then other high school kids. Being a high school athlete I for one did get specaile rules when it came to homework essays and when it came to getting sent to the office. My punishments when going to the office was way better then kids who didnt play sports and even better cause i was one of the star players. When it came to school home work or essays all i have to do was tell the teacher "i had a late practice last night can i get an extra day" and they would tell me that it was perfectly fine. In my opinion i really liked my rules when it came to homework or essays or when sent to the office when getting in trouble. At the same time i feel its very unfair to the other kids, but i am the type of person that says hey that sucks for you and thats good for me.

I agree that this is unfair to the other kids because while I was a student in high school, smoking in the school's premises wasn't allowed and one football player got in trouble for smoking, but didn't get punished for it. Therefore, he only got reprimanded for it.
I remember those days of special treatment in high school. For me it meant that because I was on the volleyball and basketball teams I could literally wave to the deans as I ditched class and all I had to say was "I forgot my uniform for that day's game at home" and I wouldn't get in trouble at all, while other kids were getting Saturday school for ditching. I think getting caught and punished for those little stupid things we did in high school help us get prepared for the bigger hurdles we have to jump over later in life. So, you say that this was good for you, but why? Just so you could get out of going to your English class or turning in homework late and still getting credit? What are you really gaining here? Do you think this has changed for you now that you're in college?
i know it has changed..i am screwed for the tatorial i have to do in english.....i have no time to get it checked so im just gunna do the tatorial anyways..

I went to a school where jocks got to beat the shit out of whoever they wanted and all they ever got was a lecture about how if, and I stress if, they were suspended they would leave the team down, and their precious school down, and worst of all leave themselves down (boo hoo hoo). So they were never punished at all and were free to beat the shit out of whoever they pleased. This didn't always go in their favour though, because sometimes students had to look outside the school for their own means of exacting punishment, luckily gun laws are so strict where I'm from we didn't have a Columbine incident, but I did once see a jock get a double bladed boxcutter run across his achilles by the brother of a kid who the jocks saw as a 'nobody' in school. The jock in question had made that kids life hell in school because teachers allowed him to. This type of favouritism is what causes kids to bring guns to school.
man! thats the truth. i agree with you one hundred and ten percent because i had the same special privaledges in high school. i dont see any problem with it if we are going to put in those hard hours out of our confort zone practicing late at night, we should get extra days on homework and extensions on essays. other kids that dont play sports just go home and most of the time just have free hours so they have all that time to do homework or projects. and sometimes after practice you are so dead and tired you cannot even think. some people dont agree with it, but athletes across the globe get more special priveledges and better rules than other kids and thats just the way it is. we have an extra curricular activity that we participate in which to me is like a job that i love going to every day. but some people live far from the school and don't even get home till ten or eleven at night and no matter how much people say "manage your time," you can't stop time. all business baby!!!! go bulldogs. we goin to the ship what?!!
What about kids who want to be professional musicians? Why don't they get special priviledges? They practice constantly and still have to make time for their school work. What about kids who want to be professional artists, or kids who do drama? What about kids who want to be programmers? What about kids who put in long hours designing and building websites? Why do they all have to manage their time, but the supposedly disciplined jocks can't seem to get the hang of it? You talk about physical exhaustion, like it's the only type of exhaustion, what about mental exhaustion, not the type jocks get from counting their fingers, I mean the kind people get when they actually use their brains beyond shouting 'we goin to the ship what?!!'. I'm talking about the type of mental exhaustion experienced by the sports physio guys who put professional athletes back together, the surgeons who operate on injured athletes, the business men who make sport a profession that pays. Next time you get kitted out in you bulldogs rig-out consider that it was put together by a fashion designer, it's logo designed by an artist, your club house designed by an architect, in short nearly everything you touch and utilize exists because other people weren't allowed special priviledges and actually had to do their homework and develop their brains. Jocks would be nothing without the rest of the class to build their little worlds for them.

At times in football i have gone home and not been able to function because i was so MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY TIRED. the game of football is much more then just hitting and pads. if you can't appreciate that then you don't deserve to talk about football. the thing about fooball is that you sacrifice your body and you don't do that in drama or band. Yes it is unfair that some jocks get special treatment but when has life ever been fair. So suck it up and don't worry bout this little blog.
I never played football. I played rugby for four years in school, I played the wing and second centre. I am fully aware of the physical strain practice puts on the body. I dropped from the team at 16 because there was too many dickheads, who got off on bullying other kids in the school. It made me puke to see them get away with it time after time. My brother still plays rugby to this day, he's 24. But he's not a jock, and not all athletes are jocks. He will openly admitt that he loves the game, but hates a good 60% of the assholes he has to play with. And I can tell you that, the same 60% are counting on their fingers. When I talk about jocks, I am talking about the ones who think they're special because they play a sport and who abuse the priviledges handed to them by teachers who are more interested in the game than they are in the welfare of students busting their balls just as hard as the wannabe professional athletes, just in a different manner, while also having their balls busted by jocks who have nothing better to do during school hours, because it wasn't like they needed to study or anything redundant like that. I practice Krav Maga myself, and Muay Thai, so I am not anti-athlete, just anti-jock.
In drama and band, you sacrifice a large amount of your time, time which has to then be made up if they want to do well academically. They get no extensions. When I dropped rugby at 16 to focus on art and design, the teachers came down on me like a ton of bricks. My year co-ordinator told me that he would "personally make your life a living hell in this school for evey minute you are not on that pitch" , I remember that word for word to this day, and he followed through as best he could, with the aid of his fuckhead jock diciples. Happily, very few of them made it professionally, ironically the guys who actually did, never hassled anybody. I got the shit beaten out of me by jocks two years older than me, there was six of them, two of us. We retaliated outside of school. Nothing serious, a good chase, one of them got a broken nose. I was reported for bullying by six fuckers two years older than me, and twice my size, which my year co-ordinator knew was bullshit, I got suspended for two weeks. They probably got medals.
For the record, no other athletes in our school behaved like assholes to other students, only the rugby team. Our school was a big rugby school. No other athletes got preferential treatment either. But, to be fair, it was not totally the rugby jocks' fault, they were treated like they were special, and allowed to get away with doing whatever they wanted. They were not assholes when they started school, it was something that developed as a result of being treated like Gods by the teachers and the principal. Is a guy who plays a good game really more significant than a guy who studies his ass off to become a surgeon and save lives?

I agree with this. There are some teachers who give student athletes special rules. I feel that is wrong but I have been on the side where the teachers have given me special treatment. A reason that student athletes get special treatment is beacuase we spread the name of the school in a positive way. Many teachers understand that student athletes work hard to spread the name of the school's name so more people know about the school. For the people who say that football players are mean and pick on them shouldn't just say it is football players. There are other students that are the one's doing the picking on. Also there are football players that don't do shit like that. So watch out on saying that shit.
To be completly honest, it really ticks me off that high school sports players get special treatment. It's not like the teachers are doing you any favors. Do you think college teachers care if you had a late game? They don't. If you don't know the stuff, tought shit. You don't get extended deadlines. The only reason would be if you can prove you were in intesive care, about to die.
And for the record, Tuffgong seems to be a pretty great individual. It's probably CSMfootball that's the fag.

I one of those girls everyone expects to date a football player and I resent it. I went to highschool with Noel Devine, the big football star! I had him in my geometry class, my freshman year, his junior year. (See a problem yet) He couldn't add two double digits without a calculator (problem?), yet he managed to score high enough on SATS to get into college? He came to pep rallies drunk, got into fights, and skipped class, yet he still managed to be in Friday Night's Big Game.
Some football players are truely down to earth, cool guys, but for the most part.....<3 Heather Ann
