Does an Ivy League university make the difference?

Next year I will go to university. It is not one of the best universities, I know...but it is a university. I was admitted in the Honors College, which is a good thing. But many tell me that graduating from a let's say not so good college won't help me build up a career. I don't agree. I think that if I work hard I will be able to do a master at a better university.
Does an Ivy League university make such a big difference? What do you think?

In the long run, maybe. I think it depends on what your career goals are. Some employers might be impressed with your ivy league education, some won't care less as long as you have that degree.

My advice is to find the best school that offers what you want. I think people will be more impressed with great knowledge in your field from a lesser-known university, than poor knowledge from an ivy league university.

An Ivy league school is just a school that has a bigger name. Of course the best students go there, but most of those students are not as well rounded as others.

Eh... If you go to one of the top non-ivy league schools I think you are getting just as good of an education, perhaps better in some cases without quite as much attitude, pomp, ceremony and most cases you'll end up with more cash. Why spend so much extra for that?

I am constantly being told that grad school is where it is important... so if you want the ivy league name, save it for then.

They are all the same in my book. I am going to Furman University, a private, four-year, liberal arts university in Greenville, SC. It costs just as much as those Ivy Leagues (approximately $39,000). Where are you going to college, and is this college really as "bad" as you suggest it is through your well-written blog?

I agree with the last post - graduate school is where you need to make the cut. For me, dental school is going to be at UNC - Chapel Hill, or at an Ivy League.

For now, I am going to concentrate on my academics, activities, and standardized tests.

I think it's important. Like if I was to go to a foreign country, which I plan to, I think it's important or maybe at least better if you go to a well-known University.
But now that I've read other people's comments, I guess it's important maybe for grad. school. I'm still learning this stuff..
