Christmas Is In Five Days...

erameline's picture

Christmas is just five days away, and frankly, I'm tired of saying "Happy Holidays."

I'm tired of worrying about getting sued if I say "Merry Christmas" to someone that celebrates Hanukkah.  Or Kwanzaa.  Unless I can tell your religion just by looking at you, then yes, sometimes I am going to be wrong.

Why can't you just smile and accept it?  No reason to get butthurt over someone's heartfelt greeting. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, I do, and that's the reason I said it.

I don't live or work in an environment where this is a problem, actually.  But I hate reading about it in the newspaper.  I hate seeing it on the news.  It's ridiculous.  I hate that school choirs aren't allowed to sing Christmas songs.  I hate that "A Christmas Carol" has been banned from some schools.  Why?!  It's not hurting anyone!  And if it is, then said person needs to get a serious reality check.

I hope this isn't a problem with future generations.  With our generation.  Political correctness is bullshit.

We've gone from multi-cultural to no-cultural.

The next time I see my friend Eli (who is Jewish) I'm telling him, "Merry Christmas."  And he'll probably say "Happy Hanukkah" back to me.  Because we're cool.  And can deal.

Merry Christmas to everyone.  And if you don't celebrate Christmas, well, have fun with whatever you're doing.

(I'm an atheist, by the way.  I'd rather not turn this blog to religion.  Let's just leave it at I like presents, okay?  :P)

I think the problem is it takes away time the news could be spending on real problems... like Darfur.

Yeah, exactly. Darfur gets... let's see, NO news coverage (in my area, anyway). It's depressing. I've participated in all the postcard sends and stuff, but it's not enough. People just don't know about it.

"Hurr I'm gonna sue him cuz he said Merry Christmas-- Darfur huh?"

Yeah. Too bad the UN won't do anything about Darfur.

Also too bad that the citizens of Darfur were disarmed by force prior to such genocide.

Amazing what can be done to people when they are unarmed.

i get annoyed saying happyholidays so i just smile. if ppl say it to me i just say u 2. its so traditional its annoying.

Why does anyone even have to mention the holidays? Why not just wait for someone to tell the worker "Happy Holidays", "Merry Christmas" or whatever and say it back? I don't care what religion anyone else is or what holiday they celebrate, but I do hope they have a happy one. It's like nobody wants this, they just want to spread the happiness of their own chosen view.
