I'm in KOREA, update me on AMERICA!!!

Niftynutter's picture

So I'm actually here in Korea, and I depend on the news to update me on the BIG BIG things...but I was just wondering if you guys could update me on cool things going on there!

Like gas prices...what's the weather like, and all of that.

I get a bit lonely here!!! THXX

Here in korea, it's different. I haven't pumped gas for 3 months, they have busy buses here. The weather is ALWAYS humid, they do weight by kilograms. I'm 55 kilograms, which is like 120 lbs, i know haha i'm fat!

Also, the people are extra friendly, and sometimes it smells really bad bc of the Kimchi and sewers and all of that.

THey don't use pennies here. If your total comes to let's say $5.96 and you give them $6.00 they give you a nickel in change. AweSOME!

PPl leave their cars running...while they're inside shopping. (there's alotta trust here)

Rice patties are EVERYWHERE!

--there's alot more, you guys gotta visit!

I'm envying that you get to be there- OH make the most of it-
I want to go- but first i should at least know how to read and understand Korean..so after i have that down
I'm gonna go- so it would be nice if you blogged about things that could be helpful to foreigners and things that we would find odd and interesting
people/places and events ?
what do you think?
thanks though- i already know more through this blog

so it makes it easier for me to live here, but from ppl in the army that i've been they miss home ALOT. there are maybe one or two korean drunks that roam around from day to day. Korean ppl are so carefree, but in a good way. They are caring, friendly, and easygoing. If you wanna get on their good side, you HAVE to understand their customs. Like bowing is a huge custom.

i know all about respect and the way one should address people and the bowing and just general cultural aspects
that are quite different from america
and like hand shakes too
thanks for commenting back
enjoy it, it sounds like a really nice place to visit and live
and yeah, homesickness-people do go through that if a place is really different or maybe just because they miss home a lot

Weatherwise, it has been an odd year. The southern midwestern states have been flooded with rain all summer (Texas, oklahoma, Missouri, etc) whereas the south eastern states have been in a bad drought (kind of the opposite of last year)

Here in oklahoma it is in the 80's and 90's, which is winding down into fall soon.

Gas is varying around the country, but here it is around 2.65 to 2.69 for the cheap stuff. Prices flirted with 3 bucks a gallon, but dropped back down.

Otherwise, life is as life does.
