Ahh, the things we come up with at two in the morning.

So. I was thinking about a few things last night when yet ANOTHER bought of insomnia rendered me unable to sleep. And I honestly can't remember half of them. I swear, if I recorded all of my slap-happy ideas and pursued those topics, I would be a genius. =]

So. There is a word that has always confused me. I understand the meaning, but the meaning is ironic, if not contradictory. And the word is... dun Dun DUN: Ambiguious. Okay. So this is a word that means:

1. open to or having several possible meanings or interpretations; equivocal: an ambiguous answer.
2. Linguistics. (of an expression) exhibiting constructional homonymity; having two or more structural descriptions, as the sequence Flying planes can be dangerous.
3. of doubtful or uncertain nature; difficult to comprehend, distinguish, or classify: a rock of ambiguous character.
4. lacking clearness or definiteness; obscure; indistinct: an ambiguous shape; an ambiguous future.

So my question for you is: how can a word mean something that cannot be clearly described with words? How can something that has several possible interpretations or meanings be confined to description in one word? I mean...it's easy to say something like... space-time relationships are ambiguious. But that does not even remotely describe all of the complexities and various dimensions to space-time relationships. Isn't it kind of contradictory to describe something that cannot be described or is difficult to comprehend in ONE WORD? I may just be thinking too much about this. It's kind of an ambiguious topic. =D

I'll write other blogs about my other amazing questions and observations that occured in my slap-happy state of mind. And I promise, they will be thouroughly exciting. =]
