Yeah, it still holds the spot as my favorite show, right before Family Guy. But during the past couple of seasons i just dont understand whats been happening. Are they replacing writers and producers? I don't know too much about the production of TV shows but it seems that since the 4th season, and especially during the 5th, The L Word is slowly becoming more stereoptypical and commercial. For example in the next episode Nikki is going to oil wrestle with Jenny half naked...sounds like every guys fantasy, and maybe the creator of this episode is one of those guys who does in fact have this fantasy... I dunno... Just a thought.
Also, the storylines aren't sticking as well. Helena was randomly taken out of jail and now..she probably wont come back on. And last season they entered Papi, who in my assumption replaced Carmen. Dont let me get started on how pissed I was that Carmen was gone (Sarah Shahi is beautiful), and Papi annoyed me but when season 5 came around Papi mysteriously vanished.
Shane was finally beginning to develope a foundation for real relationships then she cheated on the blonde....and is back to being a whore. Tina and Bette are back together??????? For what? It seems like they cant think of anything else to make the show about. And whatever happened to Kit's boyfriend, I know they broke up but where did he go?
I sure do miss the good days, season s1-3 were the best. You know it's fictional but they focused on real issues... And a lot of the fiction hit home. The only issue now is...outing celebrities like some lame tabloid at a newspaper stand, and dont ask dont tell laws in the military (which is actually the only thing that catches my interest when i watch it now).
Not to mention that there are 12 episode seasons and they start every year and a half. If they dont shape up i dont see the show lasting too much longer... I dont want it to be cancelled, but with the way things are starting to look, if i stop watching it, i guess it wont really matter.
I know someone else out there watches The L Word...

I think of all topics on ProU, this is the one I know the most about.
I'm not really interested in the oil wrestling, but I saw screen caps and it appears Dawn Denbo is gonna be there, so that should be interesting. It does seem like a male fantasy, but I know a lot of people wanted more sex/nudity and from what I've read on message a lot of lesbians are anticipated that scene.
Helena is gonna come back in later episodes. I think some way she's gonna help Kit out with the whole SheBar competition.
I guess I don't see the things with Shane/Paige and Bette/Tina the same way you do. Shane and Paige had absolutely no chemistry. And Bette and Tina are the glue that holds this show together, and i don't really see what's wrong with focusing on their relationship, that's the logical thing to do with the main couple of any show.
I agree about Kit and Angus. I loved Angus!
I think the show is really starting to get better. Season three was just painful to watch and I wanted to do some serious damage to Ilene Chaiken after she killed Dana. Season four was better, and now I think season five will be as good as season one or two.
I would like to see the show focus on more issues dealing with race as well as sexuality. I mean we have Bette, Kit, Tasha, Angie, that could be some good drama as well. Like in season one when Yolanda from the couples therapy session was giving Bette a hard time for not wearing her Blackness on her sleeve.

I disagree with the thing about Bette and Tina holding the show together. Theyve been in and out of each other from the jump. I'd rather Bette keep with Jodie...i like her character. Plus...Bette cheated on tina and that was what started them breaking up in the first place.....now shes cheating on Jodie with Tina. If i were Tina..I think I might've noticed the trend.
How can you say Page and Shane didnt have chemistry? Then what lead Shane to asking her to move in with her? I guess maybe it was all because she missed her little brother which does make more since, if she was trying to keep Page's kid around.
And dont get me wrong..i dont mind the oil wrestling...but yeah, the show has an obvious incline of sex scenes, which is also fine but...i dunno. There always seemed to be at least one sex scene per ep.
One thing i could never understand is why they put Marina back in on that episode in which Jenny was looking for a theme for her book as a movie. I thought they were going to do something with the two of them but i guess it was just a tease.. I was upset with the Dana thing too...especially with how they had her play Laura off. Wasnt that her name? The redhead?

It was bad that Bette cheated on Tina, but I think it's different now. First Bette just cheated cause she wanted some hot sex and she and Tina were having problems. But now, Bette is cheating on a woman with whom she's not in love with the only woman she ever loved. And I like Jodi, but not with Bette. And Tina totally jumped on Bette like a monkey in the last episode.
Shane wanted to move in with Paige because of the kid and the fact that Paige was pretty perfect. They didn't connect but she did nothing wrong so it was probably hard for Shane to think of a reason to end it.
They did use to have a lot more sex.
I also thought that Marina thing was gonna turn into something. I actually wish they would Bring Marina back, her and Jenny were so hot.

I dont think it was because you missed some of season 3, i wasnt really into carmen's character, moreso her face and body. Did you get around to seeing ep 7 yet? There used to be a time when i could get on emule and download what was supposed to show next week before it came out.... if that were still the case i guess i could put my own spoiler board up but i cant ever get them anymore.

I saw 507. I liked all the Tibette scenes and the scene with Alice telling Tina "am I some kind of idiot for being out?". She might as well have been talking about The L Word. But I liked 508 much better, and I'm really excited about 509. There will be Tibette sex on an elevator.

I guess Technically Nikki is out but she's never been in a really big movie so not many people know she's a lesbian. Nikki's really only out on the Hollywood lesbian scene, but not really in the public eye. But Nikki is so naive she's gonna end up outing herself.

Theres this movie called somthin somethin..."art school" i think..sorry i cant really what its called but i saw it a couple of months ago about this kid that goes to school to be an artist, and tries to find his real purpose in life and struggles with his work, and katherine is in it, playing the same character she plays in the L word but with a different name. That was my confirmation. Which one is Rose? Do you think nicki is into her co-star? It's getting very interesting...but the season is almost over :(

I had to say that I am beginning to lose interest in the show - the plot is getting kind of ridiculous and incoherent and the characters rathering boring. I hope there will be no more new seasons for this show - it should be retired.
Yes, sometimes it is annoying how they change the things that had been so good! I know how you can still be interested in a show on the one hand but on the other hand are tempted to stop watching. Maybe it'll get better.
