I don't know if anyone else saw the story on Today this morning. Some insurance companies are offering cameras to parents so they can watch their kids drive.
What an outrage. I hope my parents respect me and trust me enough to believe that I drive safely. I hope everyones parents do. But seriously, if teens need cameras, what about the elderly. I swear, teens are safer drivers than at least half of the elderly people out there.
If parents are so concerned that their children are not driving safely, than maybe they should just revoke their driving privileges all togethor. It seems to me that if a teen has their drivers license they know how to drive. Sure, not all teens are responsible. But not all adults are responsible. Should we watch everyone drive or just teen drivers?

i'm about to get my license. my first thought was. hey. now mom and dad can trust me bc look. proof- i'm a good driver. i wouldnt have anything to worry about and.. they even build more trust than with out... but honestly. i wouldnt be a good kid.. i'd take my friends home.. and chill at my brother's house [not allowed to see him] before coming home. so. yes. but even so. i havent been bad [not yet having my d.l.] kids that are bad would be the real desore to tape ur kid's driving.
I totally agree with you! I understand that some parents don't trust their kid's driving, but if that's the case don't let them get their license! Plus, just because someone is a teen doesn't mean that they are a bad driver! If people start taping teens, where will it end? will every car come with a secret video camera that someone can tap into at will? I think it's crazy that insurance companies want to make it so easy to spy on us.
I don't see this as much of a privacy issue as with other things, like spyware on a computer or a camera in the bedroom. I can kind of see the outrage, but if it's just your parents (and not, say, the police/government), I don't see the harm in it. The worst I can see is a parent getting paranoid that their child hit a curb (as I do on occasion).
