There are some questions to this whole Harry Potter jive.
First, what makes Harry Potter so popular?
It is not like the world hasn't read things about magic. There has been many books, theories, and even religions based on magic. What is so spectacular about some world of magic?
There are many books, movies, and the like with a plot were there is "the one". Think of The Matrix were Neo is "the one". There is almost always that special someone who is there to save everyone else. But I guess the difference with Harry Potter is that Harry doesn't save anyone ( at first) he get's protected by his mother's love and doesn't die by the hands of Valtimore. OOOhhh exciting. But here is where it get's interesting, he can't be touch by evil, or however you want to describe it.
Though he is "the one, like every such character he is oblivous about it. Due to his character he befreinds some interesting people. The funny part is that they are "unique" in their own way.
By jove, can anyone relate to this story?
Yes, which is one of the reasons why it is so popular.
But what makes this better than Narnia?
Poeple can relate to Narnia. Narnia has magic in it. If anythng, it has just as much symbollism. It has all the weird creaters and lessons and so forth. It is just as dark and mysterious. They have wierd costumes.
Just what makes Narnia better?

I LOVE Harry Potter, and I'm a big fan of fantasy stories. I can't say if Narnia is better since I haven't read it's entire series, but I'm not sure what exactly makes me attached to Harry Potter they way I am. In a way, I can relate since they're kids that are growing up. I might be also that Harry's struggle as an orphan, makes us want him to succeed and we just keep wanting to know, what MORE can happen to some so unfortunate as him but at the same time, look at all the great people he met in his journeys which makes it so much more positive for Harry.
Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia are two great series of books. The difference is that Harry is always isolated outside of Hogwarts and the...erm...four kids (forgot the last name) from Narnia are never isolated. Harry is more the sympathetic character, whereas the siblings are more of the role-model type. They are each wonderful in their own particular styles. Some might prefer Harry Potter over Narnia, or vice versa, simply based on the writing styles of the authors.
I don't know what it is about Harry Potter. Maybe it's because Potter goes to school and so we can relate. But for me, its the fact that the film and the books make you feel as if you were there yourself.
