So i'm listening to the radio for the probably like the 3rd time in my life lol, basically doing some homework in a sense. Listening to this music, i must admit it doesn't all sound as bad as i thought, some of it sounds nice, but the lyrics and the messages PLEASE! This music you have to just pay attention to the beats and how the vocals are done, 'cause what they are saying is complete and utter crap.
I used to wonder why is it that back in like 1996 I heard rappers say things like "I don't even listen to rap... " and then you'd heard they be listening to like Dizzie Gillesby, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and things like that. I'm thinking now, if you just listen to the current music you basically lose perspective. It's exactly the same thing as if you you only talked to people your age about any issues and never listened to your parents point of view or the previous generations.
Also another thing i've been seeing is the trend for all these young people to be the makers of this music. I remember hearing DMX talking about he's not gonna be 40yrs old rapping, and to this day I still think that was a dumb statement. To me music is supposed to be art, and it's supposed to be about life. These youth making this music don't know anything about life. I'm 24 and I know sure as hell i wasn't properly told and taught about life.
The other big trend i'm seeing is that every song seems to be made for the club.... what happened to aggresive songs, or mellow songs, or story-telling songs. I mean what happened to diversity. Who wants to dance all the time? I guess music has become like a drug to those who don't do drugs. The same way people take drugs to forget their problems is the same way people use this club music to make them forget thier problems. Point blank life sucks, it's taboo to say that nowadays but it's true.
Music should allow us to see different view points, it should empower us when we have similar viewpoints, it should allow us to see the plights of some and the rewards of certain choices. Music like art should give us hope. Not simply propogate bad morality and encourage vice driven liven in which everyone suffers.

You are right. Atleast, I agree with you. Music nowadays is not what it should be. Since when is stringing together curse words a song? Its SAD what they play, what people WILLINGLY listen to. I personally only care for music that is about something deep, about whats important to me like love or life or even sadness. Basically the music I choose to listen to expresses how i feel. If this is true for the people listening to all the current popular music, like the rappers you described and what we hear on the radio, well thats just scary. I would hope that millions of people dont feel like ******* a ***** up or getting ****** up. lol you get my point. but then again it wouldnt suprize me.....
