...And here's entrepreneurship at its best for you, ladies and gents. A cosmetic line featuring Jesus Christ. Actually, I'm not sure why someone didn't come up with this a while ago. The only thing that really surprises me about this article is that it didn't occur in good ol' USA where business and industry flourish but rather, the line was featured in Singapore.
The product line, which has been pulled by the retailer, promised to "redeem your reputation and more". (Oh, good god, one can only hope that they were imagining the sexual innuendos in that statement). One product even depicted Jesus with a heavily made up blonde consort at his side (Marilyn Monroe, having ditched JFK?)
But seriously, aside from the obvious questions that this bit of news brings up, I also started thinking about the issue of economy. How far are we willing to go to make money? Where is it that faith and morality come in? Is exploiting another’s faith-and profiting materially off that exploitation-ever okay? Industries attempt to manipulate consumers all the time by selling their products as the *best* product, what is the difference between that and working to take advantage of the religious beliefs of the consumers to profit?
More importantly, why on earth would they ever have thought this would have flown without being protested?

I have never heard of this line of cosmetics!! That makes me soo angry! How can people be sooo insensitive to others' religion and personal beliefs! Seriously! What happened to humanity?? Holy cow. I'm at a loss for words!
The phrase "Holy Cow" is also insensitive to others' religion and personal beliefs. It stems from the Hindu faith and their belief in reincarnation. Some say it comes from the story of the golden calf from the old testament, but regardless of its origin, saying Holy Cow to a Hindu would be very offensive. What happened to humanity?

That makes a whole lot of sense, but I hadn''t thought about that. That' akin using someone's deity or religious object as a slang word or phrase. It happens often enough, but it always good to understand what you are saying and why.
