Gas Prices killing you?

Has anyone else been pulled to tears while watching the pennies add up on the gas pump? I live in Minnesota and our average price is around $2.65-2.80. Less than a few hours away in Wisconsin, prices are up to about $2.95! I do not follow the price of a barrel of oil day to day, I do work at a gas station though. Last week I jumped 17 cents only to drop 18 cents two days later! In Venezuela right now, gas is 12 cents per gallon. In Iran, it is 35 cents. All the while, some places in the U.S. are over $4.00/gallon! I am not getting paid anymore because gas is going up but I am paying much more to get there. Is anyone else's pocketbook hurting?

I truly understand what you mean. The more we pay for gas, the less we actually earn at our Jobs. What I mean is that the money we make is subtracted by the amount of money it costs to get there. I am a highschooler working, and find it most annoying to have to pay the gas prices in order for me to get to work. We really need to start off shore drilling. No, this is not an perfect fix. But over time, we can become energy independent by Off-Shore Drilling and alternative fuels.
I believe you can claim the number of miles you drive to and from work as a business expense on your taxes, so just keep track of those in a journal or an excel document or something. I don't think it actually covers the entire cost of driving to and from work, but all those miles really add up to a nice chunk of money.
"What a crazy random happenstance!"
