I don't think the ESRB should be held accountable for anything related to a murder suspect blaming a video game like Grand Theft Auto for his/her crimes but it seriously needs to make game ratings more clearly visible and needs stricter enforcement of its rules. The ESRB is too lenient in its ratings and adding one additional rating just makes things more confusing for parents and other adults (like grandparents or aunts/uncles) buying games for younger kids. The E10+ rating is very misleading. I mean, Everyone 10 and up? How is that different from just everyone? If a 10 year old can handle the content in those games, I'm sure a younger kid can too. Especially in today's society, where everything has to have sex, violence, and course langauge in it to be a hit song, movie, or TV program. So, if those three things are openly marketed even to little kids why not video games? Because, video games are still in their infancy as an excepted medium of entertainment. Look at movies when they first came out. And TV. Boy, was that big. I just think if the MPAA and the FCC can give good, accurate descriptions for movies and music, the ESRB should be able to do the same with video games.
