So recently my college decided to propose a campus wide smoking ban because according to them smokers were putting non-smokers in an un-healthy situation. The "bill" passed in the student senate and it sparked a little controversy. I personally am not a smoker and I'm siding with the smokers on this one because health freaks are ridiculous. Sure the butts all over the sidewalks and grass or what not are an unattractive thing to look at, but really? The largest argument in support of non-smokers is that second hand smoke is bad for their lungs. Right, it is; but not outside when you walk by someone for one, maybe two seconds. Oh lets argue about it actually being bad for you but how in the world could you test something like that? I can see banning smoking inside public areas where there is no way to get away from the smoke because smokers do put non-smokers in danger. In reality you probably get more second hand smoke from grilling outside than you do from walking by someone that's smoking. Ah yes, lets ban grilling outside as well. People need to stop freaking out about what other people do, stop washing your hands 50 fucking times a day with anti-bacterial soap. Stop being a fucking pussy and live your life without fucking with everyone else’s.
