Health Alert: Avoid Trans-Fats

Health officials are now warning us to avoid foods high in Trans-fats because, they say, those foods add to cholesterol that clogs arteries and add to heart disease woes.

When Dr. Aikens came out with his low carb alternative diet, everyone jumped on the band wagon and swore off ALL carbs for life. In fact, it was difficult to find anyone who wasn’t watching their carb intake. The first commercial supporters of the low carb diet was fast food industries, they wanted you to believe they had your health as their motivating factors. I remember well when Hardees (Trademarked) came out with their low carb breakfast bowl which included eggs, several meats, and high in fat as well, but low in carbs.

The new issue is Transfats, and sure to form, Kentucky Fried Chicken (also Trademarked), has foresworn to use low trans-fat cooking oil and everywhere except the biscuit making (they proclaim they just cannot make a biscuit taste like a biscuit without the trans-fats). So then, are we to assume that the fast food industry is actually making decision based on the health concerns of its customers? Although I doubt it, and believe KFC is doing anything it can to capture its lost market shares and keep its name in the headlines. I tend to be skeptical, and therefore may be off the mark, but I put forward the idea that whatever any restaurant can sell, they will! Anything that improves their bottom line, regardless of the healthiness or gluttonous of an item, it will sell what makes money.

Should we avoid Trans-fats then? Probably, we are a nation overweight. Is it any more serious than any other health issue? I doubt it, and believe it to be the passing fad for this age.

yeah, trans-fats is definitely a big issue. I think it's good to stay away from them whenever possible, the results are coming back that they're not so good for your body.

I definitely agree that it is a passing fad. Unfortunately, it could be a dangerous one. That whole "no carbs" thing is extremely dangerous, and this one could be, too. I would strongly recommend that anyone and everyone avoid whatever dieting trends are getting major media attention.
I kid you not, these things can/are dangerous to subject the body to.

I am so sick of hearing about what's good and bad for you. Really it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. I think we really need to face the real problem. People are not over weight because they don't know what's healthy and what's not. We choose to eat bad foods we know aren't healthy. I'm guilty of it, so is nearly everyone else. People need to wake up a realize that it's their own resonsiblity to eat healthy, and some fad diet is not going to do that for them.

Everything is bad for you, it causes cancer, and will make you fat. If people just learned about proportions, we would be fine.
