That’s right comic books. I love comic books. Ever since I was little I have read comic books. My father would bring home a random comic book from his business trips and I would read them until they fell apart. As I got older my love of comics faded but never died. When I was around eleven I started reading the Fantastic Four on a regular basis.
After maybe four or five years of nothing but the Fantastic Four I left superhero comics (later I would learn that the F.F. is not really a superhero comic) and journeyed into nothing but independent mini series and one-shots. This sustained me for about 2 years or so and in that time I discovered Flaming Carrot, Hate, Apocalypse Nerd, Dork, Milk & Cheese, A Dummy’s Guide to Danger, and many more. As I was finishing up Ward of the State, I decided to start reading Invincible. I had briefly read an Invincible story in one of those Free Comic Book Day Publications but nothing more. Now that is a superhero story.
I think I was watching an episode of IFanboy when someone mentioned the Sinestro Corps War. Well, that sounded interesting and now I am a very big Green Lantern Fan.
I try to keep my monthly list to about 5 books, but recently there have been so many good titles I cannot resist.

So what's the progressive aspect of comic books?
I actually heard my professor talking about the lessons he's learned from comic books. Pretty interesting. It's too bad that comics are looked down on by so many people as something that is "dorky". I believe in trying new things, and I've read a few comics. They are easy reads, cheap entertainment, and every now and then you learn a little something.
