Dr. Lee Jong Wook, director general of the World Health Organization and the first Korean to head an international agency, died in Geneva today after undergoing emergency surgery for a blood clot in his brain on Saturday. He was 61 and had led the W.H.O. since July, 2003.
Michael Leavitt, the secretary for Health and Human Services, who traveled with Dr. Lee in Asia last year, issued a statement today praising him for having offered "visionary leadership and a cooperative spirit."
He held a very important position as the World Health Organization's leader. I wonder who they are getting to replace him. I also wonder how they choose things like that. Is there someone they bump up like if the president dies?
I also read an article that said China citizens were very sad.
Bye Mr Wook, you did a good job :(
