Should Casino Gambling be legalized in the United States?

Someone at lunch today told me that they believed Casinos should be opened in any community in the United States that wanted them. Her arguments were pretty simple:

-It would take the moneies being spent on Native American Reservations (where Casinos are legal) and bring the monies back onto American soil.
-It would create thousands of jobs for each casino, including opportunities for people who might not have the education or training to get high-paying jobs in another field.
-Legal Casinos would generate tourism, which when combined with the new jobs would ultimately raise the local economy.

She had some very good points, but now I am starting to wonder about it, as I think on the subject more and more.

Would Gambling Addicts find it even easier to skip out on things and lost their money in these new, readily available Casinos?

If they opened Casinos everywhere, then what would attract new patrons? I mean, why go to Vegas if you can gamble in Utah?

And what about the possibility of increasing crime rates?

I'd like to know what you think about this. Should we start thinking about making Casino Gambling legal throughout the United States, or leave well-enough alone?

I love going to Vegas, but I really wouldn't want my hometown to turn into one. We have a few casinos locally and are great for something to do once in a while, but I like driving back to my sleepy little town free of millions of neon lights.

Casinos are a huge money maker, so I wouldn't want their legalization to turn the entire US into Vegas. It would kind of be like the "alternate" 1985 Marty returns to in "Back to the Future II"

Of course, a life of constant partying would be quite enticing......
