Several of us complain about the FDA, bad pills, bad food, side effects of things that are worse than the original symptoms; all kinds of things.
Well, here is your chance to do something about at least one of these things.
If you or someone you know is taking "third-generation" oral contraceptives (birth control pills) you could be subjecting yourself to completely unnecessary side effects. These pills contain a synthetic progestin called desogestrel; this can double your risk of developing life-threatening blood clots.
And, there's no reason to take on these added risks because these particular birth control pills are no more effective than pills that do not contain desogestrel. So why, then, are doctors continuing to prescribe these pills?
Public Citizen has issued a petition to tell the FDA to ban these harmful pills, forcing doctors to begin prescribing their safer counter-parts.

You would think that the FDA would only approve things that were safe. But apparently not.
Wow. That's quite scary to think that the FDA even let this type of birth control to pass whatever tests and such that deem it safe for the public. Let alone the doctors that prescribe the pills to their patients, since I imagine that they should know better.

Could it possibly be for the same reason they don't want to do hormone replacement therapy anymore? Giving those women estrogen increased their risk for breast cancer dramatically, so now they're coming out with synthetic estrogens that don't change your risk for breast cancer.

The FDA is made up of a bunch of crooks. They approve all these drugs that give people side effects that are worse than the original symptoms, while shutting down companies that offer natural, affordable products that have been known to cure cancer, MS, and many other diseases.
