I have a problem with black people.

I feel that we don't have a sense of self worth as a whole. It seems that we are always fighting against each other and putting ourselves down. Just by being black that is a strike against you in society. Why do we succumb to the what is publicized about us in the media? This shows that we are lacking in self-love, value, respect, or structure. Its time for the black nation to stand up and be proud to be who we are. And jump for joy when February comes. We need more parades and festivals that celebrate who we are and our somewhat broken culture. It doesn't matter if your African, Trinidadian, Jamaican, Haitian or whatever else a black person may be. We all come from African ancestry. If your skin is brown or a dark chocolate, be proud of whom you are.

Why is it that people from other races show united pride for themselves and we seem to have no unity at all. Call a Puerto Rican a Dominican and see if all heck don’t break loose! But if you call an African an African American their is no response, there's no passion or pride for who we are. It is sad that we have allowed the system to make us hate ourselves, but I do believe it can be remedied. With just a little organization maybe we can mend our race. One thing we can stop doing is that making excuses and copouts about how a white person can't call us the N-word but we can use it. That has to be one of the stupidest philosophies I’ve ever heard. Who are we to sit and disrespect ourselves than turn around and tell others not to? Lets get it right me people! Maybe we can think of another term to express ourselves! We obviously are one of the most creative people in the world, so let act like it. Stand up and show how powerful we can be if we are united.

The widespread support that was shown with the Jena 6 is only a taste of what we can accomplish, It's time that we believe in ourselves, then maybe someone else will. This isn't a posting only about black pride, because if you feel that your race needs to step it up....write a comment about it. I'd love to hear about others facing similar struggles with their people. =)

Very interesting title...it definitely got me to read it.

I agree 100%. I think its time for us to stop conforming to the stereotype and begin to be a stronger people. 5 stars for u.

there is more of a need for everyone to come together and learn from our past to make the future better (i'm not black but as a minority I'm saying this)
we need to be more passionate every single day and fight for what is right and good for us as a whole and always oppose oppression, racism, sexism and all those ugly things
but thanks for trying to motivate people, we need to get more physically involved in things too.

I hope more people get to read your blog. It takes guts to say something about our own race like that. Maybe people will start improving themselves. But is education enough to save us from falling into the same cycle of discrimination? We also need interactions between people too, especially teenagers. Perhaps we can walk together through this.

Good post... I think it would be great for the black community to start to work together and be unified in more positive ways. It would be nice if people knew more about the "African-American" culture than Jesse Jackson, rap music, and young ladies shaking their butts.
