Rainbows and lollipops,
snow and bicycles too
all of them memories
shared with you.
Bunnies from hats
and clowns with red noses,
polka dotted pink elephants
and bright green roses.
Three of us after
drawing chalk art
never daring to think
we'd grow up, and grow apart.

It's really unfortunate, but we all have to realize that life probably isn't going to go exactly as we had planned. When we're little we think we're always going to be with our friends, and that life is going to be like a game of hopscotch. We're going to hop right on through. Unfortunately there's another side we don't realize. If you fall off the chalk made game it's a stumble off of the beaten path.
On the topic of the poem, we need to realize that things aren't always perfect. Relationships fall apart, and so can many other things we have to deal with. Jobs, friendships, marriages, education. Anything has the ability to fall apart of fall away depending on how you deal with it, or how things play out in the long run.
I had two best friends when I was younger. I completely lost contact with one of them three years after I moved away, and the other one I think hates me right now because of what I've changed to be. We were once very similiar, and now that my life has changed so have I. She doesn't like it, and it's forced us even further apart to the point of dislike vs. hatred. I miss her, and I miss my other friend too, but I've realized that I need to move on. And I have. It doesn't bother me, to be honest I laugh it off now. :)
Life doesn't always play out perfectly. Look back on your childhood... things back then were insanely different than they are now most likely. It's like a game of hop scotch. 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5 6 and 7, 8, 9, 10. Turn around: 10, 9, 8 and 7, you stumble and fall. You never know what life will throw at you, or what rocky stumbles you'll go through. Keep your chin up and bear it. Things are bound to change regardless.

There's a country song about life and stumbling, falling and getting back to your feet. Actually I'm sure theres a few of them if you look for them. It's sad that life isn't as simple as it was when we were kids but that's the way it goes. I look at little kids and remember when I was their age. What I did, what good times I had.
I've moved around too, know what it's like to loose friends every two years or more than that. It's sad but life goes on. I have been blessed to be reunited with a few friends through the net and I am going to college with a friend from Germany.
The best way to a man's heart is really through his stomach, that way you don't have to deal with that pesky rib cage!
