I know many people think that religious people try to push their religion on other people. But I am no bible thumper. I don't go for that "fire and brimstone" stuff. What's the point? Religion is just a word. I know many people may disagree, but hear me out. Faith is an act, religion is talk. And, frankly, talk is cheap. Of course, in some cases there is a subtle difference between religion and faith.
In sunday school, whenever we talk about a global issue, our teacher always asks "What is the Christian response?" As usual, the answer is always love. But shouldn't love be the response of all humanity? After all, we're all humans. There is a song that my church sings sometimes "They will know we are Christians by our love." But, you don't have to Christian to do service, or to be a good human being.
I know that Jesus called people to love their neighbor. I also know that, when someone asked him who their neighbor was, he told the story of the Good Samaritan. I am not exactly questioning my faith, but perhaps I am questioning religion. I go to a Catholic high school, but I am presbyterian.
In religion class, they often talk about the "Christian" response to things. But, often, these things can go both ways. I mean, you don't have to be Ccatholic or Christian to be against abortion or the death penalty. And not all Catholics believe what the church teaches. So, if not every one believes it, what is the human response to these issues?

This makes a lot of sense. I know that questioning religion happens, and I definitely question mine. It is about the human reaction, not the "Christian" one. religion is simply a tool to teach morals, and no matter how one is brought up, the immediate response should be kindness. That doesn't mean that that will be the response, but countless religions teach the "golden rule" or something like it.
Anyone who says that sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.
Agreed. I hate the way so many people seem to think that morality and religion are the same thing. Well, any atheist can tell you that they do NOT depend on each other, and definitely are not the same thing.
F*** Religion. Read more here:

What percentage of Christians do you think actually stop and act like Christians ideally should in their daily lives? I despise religion.
I believe in Pie (plugging my blog, hell yeah!), and I am faithful to It, but I despise religion.
A very small percentage! I think for quite a few it's all an act. To each, they think they are acting as an ideal Christian as a result of bad preaching and failure to seek answers.

I enjoyed reading this piece. In your piece you mention that there is a subtle difference between religion and faith. As I see it there is an astounding difference. You don't always have to practice a specific religion but everyone should have faith. Faith in themselves and what can be accomplished if they set their minds to it. Unfortunately most religions preach dogma. One amazing piece of most every religion though, is how they try to instill morals in thier believers. Some are false morals and others, as I see it, are indeed very important. One good exaple is "Thou shalt not kill."
As a human being you have the right to your own opinion and choices. Schools should be showing you the truth and let you decide what your own view is on any given subject. I do believe that most people have a driving force that tells them deep inside what is right or wrong. Fortunately and unfortunately choices must be made in order for human progression and the human response is the way that we adapt to every situation.
I do have two questions for anyone who wishes to answere them. If a woman is raped, should she be forced to have the child? If a person murders people brutishly and inhumanly should he be allowed the chance to do it agian?
Put Your trust in Your Heavenly Father and nothing else maters. For he will show you the way and not the ways of men. Amen
There's a time to put faith in someone and trusting your own intuition. For there are many religions in this world and not just one. To each their own.
