Schools, organizations, universities, work places, the list goes on. Besides being central aspects of humanity, these institutions all have something in common- Within these places, the bar is being set far to low.
Schools- Where is the bar set? It is set at teacher and student sex scandals, an act of congress that is hurting education irrepearably, and the subtle encouragement of childhood obesity.
Organizations- Motto's, creeds, and mission statements from all over the globe claim to reach out to humanity, encourage a better way of life, and offer ways to positively effect society. In reality, many organizations garner funds for themselves, fostering selfish ideals instead of generosity. The "Robin-Hood" complex has been diminished. It is estimated that last year, 2 billion dollars of funds collected or sent in to aid Darfur, was stolen, by a myriad of greedy hands. That estimated 2 billion, could have possibly saved thousands of lives.
Universities- This, the center of higher education, the goal to strive for, has become a laughing stock. Instead of encouraging a thirst for knowledge, and challenges that form and develop adulthood, universities have delivered a mix of unsecurity and unsafety. Debates are now full-blown fights. Classes are now regulated to "what will not offend." The list goes on, and the bar sinks lower.
Work Places- For decades now, the work ethic in America has been declining, and the public dole is considered a means of income. For many in the business and working class world, the need to steal from the government, the work place, or the consumer is overpowering. Integrity in this institution of society, is at an all time low, with little hope of improvement.
The bottom line is- if the bar dives even further down, it will disappear, and not recover.
