Suprise!!! You're not really eating sugar

Most people only talk about eating healthier, postponing when they’ll start. Maybe after I tell you this you’ll feel tricked enough to stay away from sweets that are irresistible. Products like Coke (sodas), Rice Krispy treats, and even some ice creams have an ingredient called high fructose corn syrup.

High fructose corn syrup is a substitute for sugar, so products taste sweet because of  “fake sugar”. It’s cheaper than sugar, so the food/drink companies profit from spending little to make their products and from consumers who buy thinking that they’re getting an authentically delicious deal. It’s unlikely that there’s a big taste difference between sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Similarly they both could cause diabetes, but it’s worse to know that you got sick because of something fake.

If you look at the ingredients of your snacks, you’ll be surprised to find out that most sweets have high fructose corn syrup as an ingredient instead of sugar. It’s either one or the other. I felt deceived by the Krispy Company because while they listed ingredients that their products contain I didn’t know what that meant.

Snack companies should list their ingredients and say what ingredients are substituted on the label. The companies probably don’t because that type of specifying could hurt their sales. However, the snack companies are beginning to lose customers because high fructose corn syrup substituting sugar has gotten media attention already. It’s worse to be TOLD that you’ve been consuming “fake sugar” for years than to read it on a label for yourself. The companies might as well put it on the labels to try to keep their loyal customers away from surprises.

is in almost everything and is more dangerous than that...It's the nicotine of the food world...And while it is cheap (sugar is too) it is also stickier and thicker-they sell bottles of it, it is used for homemade caramel corn...Check all your labels...I guarantee it's in more than you think.

Fructose isn't fake sugar, it's just not the type of sugar you buy in the store. HFCS is a concentrated form of the sugar you find in fruits. Splenda is fake sugar... it's glucose with a whole bunch of chloride ions added on. Aspartame is a fake sugar... it's two amino acids linked together and capped with a methyl group.

In fact, fructose is PART OF table sugar (also known as sucrose). One fructose unit and one glucose unit (the type that our body most readily uses) are bonded together to form sucrose. And then it gets broken down, and our body eventually turns glucose into fructose (or a derivative of fructose, anyway).
