Today is my first day using Progressive U. I found this scholarship during one of my hours long scholarship searches online. These have been ever more frequent these days due to the fact that I am only being offered loans for college. What good are loans though? They still have to be paid off plus interest! New Jersey has refused to grant me any financial aid because I will be attending an out of state college and they consider my family to have too great of an EFC to give financial aid to. Could they be more wrong? I think it is awful that the state is judging our need based on an estimate of finances. FAFSA, for example, asks if your family has any investments and if so how much they are worth, then says that because you do have an investment you can sell it and get money from it to pay for college. Well maybe some people will do that, but let's think of the obvious...people shouldn't have to make investments in stock, property, or so on in order to pay for their child's or their own college education. If education is a right guarenteed from K-12 why shouldn't it also be a right once you have graduated? The majority of careers these days require that you have a bacholerettes degree or beyond, and with many tuitions up over $20,000 a year the average middle class citizen can't get that education without taking out a loan and then paying it back over the rest of their lives. Do we really deserve that?

I know what you mean, school is getting more and more expensive and one must need at least a bachelors level degree for a good job, it's not quite fair!
