I have realized that I can't seem to post an original blog, lol. Everytime I post something that is important to me, somebody has beat me to it! I'm not complaining, I love that there are others out there that feel the same as I do! Does anybody else feel this way??
I have also been thinking about some of the other topics that I have been "upset" about over the course of my high school career: some, well most, of my friends think it's funny that I get so fired up about things that don't seem to matter much to them. My dad told me once, when we were having a conversation on whether I was crazy or not. (Background info on that: I was telling him how different I feel from all the other "normal" high school kids that are [in my opinion] more interested in hair, and dates, drinking, what they did over the weekend, et cetera) My dad told me that I wasn't crazy, of course, and said, "Robin, if you are crazy, then you are a crazy genius."
I actually think that this is an accurate description, and I feel a little "crazy" being proud of that, but I definitely feel like I am different, and I am happy to be me, although it IS a little frustrating at times.
I have been passionate about safe driving, did you know that 16 teens die every day, and most of those accidents are caused by things that could have been prevented: not yeilding, driving too fast, talking on a cell phone. I think it's pretty ridiculous that people DIE because of things like this.
I am also very passionate about rights for gays. I believe that they should have the right to be together, to get married and to have kids, if they choose to do so. I have a gay pride "flag" (which is more or less a rainbow colored strip of cloth on my purse), and I am happy that it draws attention. I get to answer everyday that, "No, I am not gay, but I support gay people." I also get a kick out of people to make another comment about it the next day, this is when I get to say, "Yup, I still support them, it wasn't a one day thing."
I am also quite passionate about animal cruelty. I know it's very rare to hear somebody say that they are FOR animal cruelty, haha, so I'm sure you know what I am about to say. I am worried about the way chickens are being treated. A lot of people laugh at me when I tell them that I support chickens. My friends even say, "You and your chickens." (They add a laugh here, of course.) I watched a show called, "How it's Made", you might be familiar with it, it airs on the Discovery Channel, and obviously, shows how things are made. I watched an episode that discussed the workings of a chicken hatchery. The workers dumped the baby chicks onto conveyor belts, and then threw them into chutes after they were sexed. I was quite upset about this, so I wrote a letter to my state representative.
I will probably post about each topic listed here in more length and detail at some point, but I want to touch gently on each subject. I would appriciate it if you left comments with your opinions as well! Happy Posting!

I have strong issues about driving too. I am actually afraid of driving because my dad died from an accident. I tend to wear my seatbelt just about everytime I get in a vehicle, because his life could have been saved if he wore one. At the age of six, I bore witness to his face at the hospital. My dad unfortunately was ejected through his windshield. Everyone should stop putting their life at risk along with others when they drive. Car accidents are in the leading causes of death.
Sorry to hear about your dad. I try to wear my seatbelt as much as possible.
I am afraid of driving, too. Not because of something as tragic as this, but I am scared that I will end up in an accident. I hope I can get over it, I will need to drive at some point!
Thanks. I understand that I need to drive at some point in my life too.
I must say you have a point about the original blog situation. It's a shame cause I am sure people, such as yourself, have great input but no audience.
As far as being a "normal" or "crazy" teen I think you're on the money. I get tired of seeing these bafoons at my high school think in every irresponsible way possible. A fight breaks out and it seems like every person in the school is running towards it. I guess I somewhat pride myself on the fact that I use the brain that was given to me. My friends say I have no life but I beg to differ. I have a minimal life that will get progressively better once I move on to college and beyond. For now I must settle for multiple hours of hw.
Gay rights and animal cruelty......
Well....I'm not much for gays or the treatment of animals but I figure that gay people are people and can do certain things that they want and there is no reason why animals should be handled in a cruel or violent manner. We're not barbarians.
I must leave now for delicious dinner but I enjoyed your blog. Thanks.
Thanks, reading this was as supportive as a hug from a friend! Haha, I appriciate that all the "crazy" teens are coming out of the wood work!!!
i think if your passionate about something write about it even if its been written a hundred times already. maybe today will be the day that someone reads it and actually connects with the issue...now their life is effected even though they heard about the issue yesterday.
I completely agree with the high school thing and I have to say that all the stupid people who run around fights and pretend to be awesome and laid back are just that- stupid as a rock. I feel different too and sometimes it's hard to be the dork or sucker who has no life but what I do is just cruise and zone out as much as I can so that come graduation I can feel great that college will be so much more fun.
I completely agree with your gay-rights opinion. It's heartbreaking to see loved ones denied the happiness of life. I can't thankyou enough for posting about the subject.
Thanks again,
