She Did It, the Baby Has Come and Gone!

So a few years ago, my wife decided that she wanted to help another couple grow their family by one.  Then, about 10 months ago she was inseminated and became pregnant.  The journey was another chapter in her progressive and interesting life.  She had three girls of her own.  One that I am adopting and two that we created together.  As with any pregnancy, we had our up days and our down days.  Mood swings galore, and if you've had a child or are with someone who had one, you know what I mean!  We forged a great relationship with the parents to be and I hope that that relationship continues well into the future.  Last Thursday, October 11 at 11:48 am, my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.  He weighed in at 8 lbs and 7 oz and was 19.5 inches long.  As usual, I was witness to this baby's birthday, as were his new parents, my Mother In Law and my wife's friend.  My wife spent the normal 48 hours in the hospital with the baby and then came home on Saturday.  The parents brought their new bundle of joy over to visit and then the baby was rushed home to visit his new relatives.  I worried, as I still do, about my wife's thoughts and emotions about the baby going to another home.  Amazingly, she has been great so far (as she usually is).  She is still pumping her breast milk for the family, as they only live a few blocks from us, and we all still visit them occasionally.  Everyday I am amazed at the things that my wife does for our own little family, and these past few days I have been even more amazed by the sacrifice she made for this family.  Will she do it again?  I don't know.  She truly did this out of the love of her heart (New York doesn't allow contracts or payment for surrogate pregnancy) and I am completely amazed.

:) You're pretty awesome for being there with her through it too, just so you know! I think it's wonderful that you two were able to do this for another couple.

From the title of the creator's blog, I thought it was something TOTALLY different. Like about some girl who had an abortion. Well, glad to see that I was wrong!

Amazing. That must be one of the best gifts someone can give. My cousin had a baby boy on October 12, he was 10 lbs 8 oz. and 22.5 inches long. Big baby, lol. I bet they love him dearly!

Times flies like the wind; fruit flies like a banana.

Your wife is very admirable. I am sure that there will be many Karmic rewards for such a great gesture. I will keep both families in my thoughts and I hope all continues to go well.

That is truely awesome. May God bless you and keep you.

What your wife did was wonderful.

I am proud of her for doing it out of the kindness of her heart. I don't think I could do that since I am afraid I would have gotten attached to the life growing inside me and wouldn't be able to give it up and I know it would be harder considering it was a boy and all she had was girls which is the same why I am with 3 beautiful girls.

Aww...how sweet of you guys. You both seem to be very much in love with each other. It must be hard to give birth to a child and then give it away. I bet its not as easy as she is letting on. Every woman has maternal instincts and its hard when your child is taken away-even if it isn't REALLy yours, science shows that a bond occurs.
