Plastic Surgery

The other day I was watching the news and one of the feature stories was about a girl who wanted a breast augmentation as a back to school gift. I believe she was going to be a freshman in college, but it made me think. I've heard a few rumours around my school about people getting this done, and last year someone commented to my friend that she had "nice implants". She was flabbergasted by this "compliment," and so was I. Have we become a society where going under the knife is too common? And have we become a generation where we are already immune to plastic surgery?

From watching Dr. 90210, I have considered plastic surgery. Being a wimp, I'll probably never go through with it, but it's become all too easy to hate ourselves. Now we can fix our flaws, no matter how minor. We've created a whole new addiction with this craze. So I guess my question is, is this just a passing fad, or are we really going to become a society where we all strive for asthetic perfection?

Girls and woman have always been striving for perfection. Today, adding cilicon to sertant areas and removing fat from other areas makes achieving perfection so much easyer. People try so hard to make themselves look the best and hottest person that they are willing to spend thousands of dollars to get a step closer to #1. It is a competative and self absorbing thing that is going around like a virus. I even mention to my boyfriend that my boobs were on the smaller side and he said that he would pay for me to get bigger ones! It made me laugh because I have found that I am now sick with this virus of trying be so drop dead sexy on the outside.
I don't believe that it is going too far, I think that we are just moving into the future. Somethings, people think are wrong. But this is the future and what our founding fathers and we as the people of today have made it into. We can't change it now cause its already happening. I think people should be proud if their chest is natural and is still bigger than unnatural chests. That just means you don't have to worry about going under the knife for this one. ;)
