I personally enjoy playing video games when, I'm not taking classes, I get way to distracted. But let me ask this what do you'all think about the level of violence in video games? Do they go to far? What kinds of messages are they sending to children? Do they have any affect on children?
While I play violent video games theres no way that I would let my child play them until I feel he's old enough. And by that I mean at least 16 and that depends on how mature he is. I don't mind the violence in fact I love killing zombies! What I don't understand is the pointless violence found in games like GTA 3 and all the other ones. I think this is very harmful for teenagers, no I don't think their going to go straight out after playing a game and beat a prostitute to death but it still causes damage. I believe that games like these desensitize us from how we should feel when seeing violent acts occur. I think they can make people especially children and teens more aggressive. And lastly I think video games portray women as sex objects, I can't think of the last time I saw a average looking woman in a video game! There's only 3 kinds of women in video games:1, sexy badass hero types. 2. sexy badass villian types and 3 sexy helpless victims that need to be rescued. Why is that?

Well, I think that all you say is right. Yes the violence has gone a low way, but I like killing people with swords. I mean it's so violent it's silly to me. I mean it would not be fair that I should not be able to play these games just because people blame "violance on the games" it's an easy skape goat. I mean all you said also happens in movies too...Can one say, well I killed my sister with a machete cause I saw Jason do it?
I agree, like I said I'm not saying that video games make kids go out and kill, I simply said it desensitizes them to violence, and more so makes violence fun. I'm not implying that violent video games should be blamed in court cases, and I'm not saying they should be banned. But I do feel that senseless violence should be banned it serves no purpose. Theres a difference with other forms of media I think, its that your watching someone else do it, and usually they always end up paying the price, getting caught, killed whatever in games like GTA 3 you just kill and maim people for fun and your the one doing it, you decide the path the character takes, thats a little bit different. What do you think?
