I commented on someones wall earlier and realized that I could write an entire blog regarding my response (so here it is). While sitting in my engliah class the other day, the class got into a discussion on the 08 election and its candidates. The topic of Obamas skin color seemed to be of some sort of importance to the class (that shocked me). I was always taught that skin color does nothing to define a person. A persons actions and beliefes and convictions are what define them. I always ask the question: What do they stand for? I never ask, what is their skin color?
Like most of the U.S, my english class was calling for change in our country. They said that things are not going the way they should be and we need change. Whats struck me as odd is the change that they were asking for. People seem to be under the impression that because Obama is black, he will do a better job running the country than a white male. Because he is black. I completely disagree. Whether obama is a more fit president than McCain has nothing to do with skin color.
People say that it is wrong to not vote for Obama becuase he is black, I agree. But, to vote for him because he is black is JUST AS BAD as not voting for him because he is black. Let me know your thoughts?
Obama is black...So What ?!?!

I really don't care that Obama's black. But you have to see that the majority of voters are still in this Archaic mindset that the world belongs to the white Christian male. Despite the fact the U.S made some progress, in reality people still think the same as they did 2000 years ago. Even though Anthropologists consider race to be a myth, we consider race to be a seperate entity. It's something that came from the bible that people distort to their own twisted ends. We stil have the KKK, facists, evangilists ( nothing against them personally but they do go overboard quite a bit) and the soccer moms who will do just the most heinous things in the name of race or religion. Even though we're supposed to be logical human beings who can think rationally on the evolutionary scale, I personally think apes are smarter than some people. The supposed tos do not work in this country, trust me it didn't work with President Bush then; it won't happen now. It's reality, it's never the way you wanted it to be. Besides only the delegates get to choose who gets to be the candidate anyway. It doesn't matter if you vote or not, electoral college still stands. Either way I think some people want to see a different face for a president instead of the old ones, that or Bush really made people think twice before picking a candidate. I still haven't forgiven people for supporting a nonexisting war, putting us in a reccession state and make a big deal over the stupidest things rather than the important ones. Whether it's a race thing or a culture thing, I just don't know what to think about America anymore.
I agree
Bravo!! I agree
