I went to the dentist today and when i left i was handed a free toothbrush and free dental floss. Now I love free stuff as much as the next guy. But also while i was getting my teeth cleaned i noticed that they had two kinds of electric toothbrushes displayed. A slight bit of bias it makes me wonder if we get the best products from doctors or just the ones that they rewarded the most for handing out.
I always see doctors with the drug pens. I wonder how much this kind of advertising has on doctors? We all hear about the golf trips and Vegas trips paid for by the drug companies, but do they really happen? I just hope were not getting cheated out of the best care!

My mother is a nurse at an oncology firm, and they get all sorts of free stuff from drug companies in the way of advertising. She even got this wireless signal detector. :P As for the free vacations? No idea. Maybe the doctors get the first dibs; she's never gotten one.
I am involved in the Individual Events at my school or otherwise known as the Speech Team, and I heard a fairly well supported argument that suggested medical companies and doctors work hand in hand to prescribe more drugs and to make the drugs less effective. After hearing the argument I can see how the American people are crossing into a dangerous world regarding healthcare and trust of our physicians.
ya my next post will be about Drug ad's. It is not a good thing.
Gotta love corporate America. I used to work at a national retail chain, and when vendors would visit the store, they would leave all kinds of things behind for the employees. We got pens, stationary, blinking buttons, water bottles... you name it. It never encouraged me to promote anything, I still believe in promoting a product based on personal experience... but it didn't hurt to have something flashy to write with once in a while.
