Why Not World Peace

So, I gotta start this one off with the Iraq War. I told one of my liberal friends about the blog I posted yesterday, about how we are helping Iraqis over in Iraq. He, the human rights guy, fired back at me and said that it is not our responsibility to be over there. American soldiers should be protecting American citizens, not Iraqi citizens. But, y'all we are the single most powerful nation in the world. (At least for right now, let's just hope it stays that way.) And I would say that as the most powerful nation in the world we have an obligation to make the world a more peaceful place. A place far more secure and better to live in. If that means we have to storm into Iraq and throw out the tyrannical regime that was ruling it, then that's what we have to do. Now, I know that we have a lot of peace lovers on this site, and they would tend to disagree that war brings about peace. I mean after all, it is war. I would that war is not the most pretty thing in the world. I have friends who are in I raq and I've heard many stories. Some gut-wrenching and some heart-breaking. But here's the rub. War is reality, peace isn't. Now, before ya flip your lid, let me explain.
Remember when you were a kid and you would pick a fight with your sister (or brother gotta keep it pc) just to pick a fight. Well, some people never grow out of that stage of their life. THey grow up this way and all they like to do is cause conflict. So, for all you peace lovers out there (who I'm sure most are naturalists) how do you stop this human nature. ANd when a person likes this gains power how do you stop them. After all, its pretty much encoded in their genes to fight. How do you sit down and have a grown up conversation with them when all their are going to do is act like a child. Now, put a nuclear weapon in their hands and now how do you stop them. One answer, WAR. You can't negotiate with a child y'all.
What about people who just love to kill. They don't give a damn if it gets tham killed or not. They just love to cause suffering. How do stop them. Your gonna go in to have a diplomatic conversation with them, try and work things out and they'll just put a bullet in your knee cap, set you up in a chair and start torturing the hell out of you. There's only one way to stop a mob boss people, WAR.
Finally we have the crazies that sieze power. Don't ell me it can't be done, it has a billion times. It happens over and over and over again throughout all of history. And I can't for the life of me figure out why. But anyway, what do we do about the Hitlers and the Maos and the Stalins, and the Herods and the thousands of other crazies. You want to try and appease them go ahead. Thy'll just wnat more. You wnat to try and talk to them they'll just see you as weak and take over your country. Stoping these men is like stopping a black bear. You just gotta be tough and if you gotta fight, fight. WAR.
I'm not saying that war is the answer to all the world's problems, indeed it has thoughout history been the cause of most of them. But in recent times, it has typically been used more responsibly by the world's super powers. There's never gonna be peace y'all. We'll always have big children, pyscho's and crazies to mess things up. But if we use war responsibly and act quickly and effectively, we can minimize the damage and improve the future of our world. In short, we can make progress, and isn't that what y'all are about, progress?
