it only takes one person to lead a change in what is the norm"

i participate in a local nonprofit organization called the National Capital Coaltion to Prevent Underage Drinking (NCCPUD). I recently did a presentation with a couple of my fellow members about underage drinking and how it can affect teens and young adults plysically as well as mentally. this was my second presentation with this group and i was still new at it. we were trying to get the point across that underage drinking doenst always lead to death, it can also lead to consquences that you make or may not wish to occur you are in. The teens had great energy but they were quite rude while we were trying to speak. at first i got a little disappionted becasue i am a teen as well and i believe that they were misrepresenting us. I soon reliazed that if i choose to go into a field of publich speaking or to do it recreationally, i have to be ready to deal with situations such as this and not just with teens but with adults as well. I believe that even though it seemed as though our mission to speak to the teens was not truly achieved. A young lady came up to me and my partner and asked when we would be back to talk to them about underage drinking. I told the young lady that she could join our organization and accompany us to the weekly meetings if she chose to. In the end, reaching one person is what really matters because as they say "it only takes one person to lead a change in what is the norm"

If you get one person to join in a room of 100 its not really change. theres 99 others who are not with you, its a numbers game, the more you have, the easier it is to win.

I agree! It's changing one life at a time that matters - it isn't the quantity of change that is the most important, it's the quality. I admire you for what you're doing - more people should lead, like you are. People don't always listen, but some do - and it's important that someone's out there to say what needs to be said. There are people out there who do appreciate it, and do benefit from it. Keep on leading change.
